It was $2 at an estate sale. I grabbed it on price alone, and was thrilled after the fact to see what it was. I love the thrill of seeking and finding treasure. That's why I look for all that I do. I'm addicted to the hunt.

I managed to leave Pete and Bruce's area of the flea market without any new cutting tools today. Passed on a nice 'cast steel' claw hatchet because I wanted to cut it down into a shepherd's axe, and knew I wouldn't be able to ruin such a nicely marked little beauty. Lots of really nice bucking saws, the ones with the 'fancy' teeth. No. Need. Stop making me WANT things!!

I emailed the company and got a response back, but haven't heard back since I gave them info for a shipping quote. I got lucky and spotted this for sale by an individual. If you email Keech Castings,, I'm sure you can get one.

I caved...
Just watched one of these sell for $260 Aud. A little more than im willing to sink into just one axe but it was tempting. Its definitely a looker.

Yeah it was kind of weird i was the only bidder getting it for $40 plus $10 postage.
The strange thing is, I've seen badly mushroomed and very worn st catharines heads sell for 60 plus postage and mashed hatchets for 50. But this is a charleston made axe especially hard to come by in Aus.
Not sure what happened but no one noticed it but me.
