Ice axes are interesting to me. I guess because they seem to be a unique specialized tool of a bygone era. I have an ebay query and receive notification when they get listed. They seem usually to be listed as harvesting tools. I am not so sure. Here is a previous post of mine on what I could find:

IDK, My guess is these these types of "ice axes" saw little or no real use in harvesting, but were used after.
