Looks like the standard knife that came in a WW2 mess kit to me. I am no collector nor do I pretend to know anything about them other than we had them around when I was growing up. They came with a fork and spoon that had the same handle.

It was covered with wood glue. Original purpose seemed different then just glue applicator, so I had to grab it. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction... I've just found picture of the whole mess kit. Now I have to find what company made it :-)

it was made by SILCO.
Is it carbon steel or something rust resistant ?
If it's carbon steel it would be pre ww2 I believe because they were going to something rust resistant during the war.

The handle is made from aluminum and blade seems to be stainless steel .. let me smear some mustard.. yeah, salt and vinegar in mustard did not cause any discoloration

Unknown that pliers thing, obviously a crimper/spreader tool of some purpose.

The messkit knife. Aside from a basement inherited of armykitchen supplies and documents, I dunno much of that stuff other than its made after 1920s when loop was added and before 1970s when the knife became one piece stamping.
I have one of those in my kitchen. It sharpens well as any cheap stainless.

Look like snap ring pliers of some sort. Snap rings sure are easier with snap ring pliers.

My mother in law gets me. She is very  cool!
She stopped by today with this box of goodies for me

There isn't one thing here I wouldn't have grabbed myself.
I do not look a gift horse in the mouth.
Between us though, I wonder what she skipped over ;)

Second one down on the left has gotta be some sort of 'radius-drawn' drawknife, based on the handle orientation. Whatever it is is a whole new one on me. And I'm guessing you're gonna want to be right-handed if the turns are clockwise.

I am certainly not well versed in draw knives but that one caught my attention first.
Later tonight I may get a chance to take a closer look and post some more pictures of it.
It's pretty cool. I would like to learn more about it, and I am right handed if it works out that way.

Bob

That little hand scythe is pretty cool.

Thanks I think so too! Can't wait to clean it up a little. It's missing one screw, I just need to match the head, length and threading.

Champer. Thanks Bob!
You know, I remember now viewing that post. Short term is one of the first things to go after the eyes LOL!

Classic NG cover. One never forgets the eyes of that Afghan girl, Sharbat Gula. The image was taken during the Soviet occupation in 1985.

Afghanistan, where empires go to die.

Iconic picture and NG cover!
I knew I recognized that girl and picture.
Thank you for that SquarePeg!!
