It followed me home (Part 2)

The brush ax handle is wonderful and you are right Peg it doesn’t have a kerf and would look great on an ax. Unfortunately it set against a wall for at least 15-20 years and right before the curve at the swell it is warped. Which is a hard spot to fix by steaming or what ever method. So I will just leave it. I bought it to use and it is right and sound. So I will sharpen it and go to work!

Love the hammer and its octagon handle!
The skillet is sweet.
What have you got there in the small box?
Great find
Some machinist tools. Gauge block set or something or other.

Is that a full size ax on a 28” handle or a boys ax? And does it have a stamp? Thanks!
Full sized, nothing apparent. Vintage convex Dayton, that's all I know so far.

Jb should have a YouTube channel documenting his pickin' adventures!:)
Lol no. No time, no aptitude, no interest. Blade Forums and once in a while Axe Junkies is enough attention for me.

This should clean up nice. I'm going to hang this one, Bigelow & Dowse 2.25lb. Probably 100 years old and in great shape, and some fool sent it to be melted down.

That is a great save and still in such amazing condition.
I have a similar save, scrapyard rescue from a few months back...

Best Quality, Bigelow & Dowse, Connie...albeit a much more worn and used example compared to yours but such a similar score just had to be mentioned.
Excellent save JB:thumbsup::cool:

You did a great job! That Bigelow cleaned up crisp. The weight stamp on the pole is artistic, prominent and meant to last.

I really want to get to mine cleaned, profiled and hung now.
I have several nicely shaped 24-28" handles that I have been saving for worthy heads. This will get one of them.
