It's not. Look up axe head on ebay, set to newly listed, and look at the two hatchets and the boys axe that have a bush in the background posted by jblyttle123.

I thought so. I think the edge that was banged up will be the splitting edge. This was a beautiful western pattern at one time. You can still somewhat see it but the toes had a much better upswing. It will still make a good ax!

That axe got me on real roller coaster. I saw huge fawn's foot in corner of dark shed and in my mind I imagined visible Legitimus or Kelly maker's mark. It was covered with spider web, mud and flaky rust so no way to identify; Possibly Cedar pattern. I took it outside and saw worm holes :-( Oh well, my Raven will have to wait for "new" old handle a little bit longer. I took it home, soaked it and cleaned off and realized what it was. With handle or not, I am excited cause it looks like that 4, maybe 4,5 lb Plumb has hardened poll.



That shining head weights 4.5 pounds and I believe it was hanged upside down. I have no idea what pattern it is. I checked 1938 TT catalog for pointers; I cannot find any CT pattern axes with phantom bevels, so maybe it is Delaware.





Very nice chunk of steel; Sir F. Richard weights almost 32 ounces

Those were acquired the same time with already posted F.Dick, Plumb and Kelly (too many pictures, so decided to spit it into 2 separate posts).
I have no idea who made those hawks ... I appreciate any help identifying them.

The black head weights 18 ounces, and it length is 6 1/4 inches
I had to rescue this poor thing.
Its head weights 8 ounces and length is also 6 1/4
I love full tang Imperial Providence.... I was just curious about Imperial Ireland

I already hung it but i bought this plumb wedge pattern today at a local antique shop. There is no weight stamp but it weighs #3-15.1oz. Measures 7-1/4" x 4-1/8". Does anyone know roughly when plumb started using their special stamps? ie; crescent moon, triangle, circle etc?

I didn't remember seeing one either so that's why i grabbed it... the profile is a Yankee but it is undoubtedly a wedge. From poll to bit is a straight line! I haven't officially measured the angle yet but my guess is around 15°. It also seems quite old. I like the patina however so i don't soak it. That would've shown me how much high carbon was added and helped me guess the age. I think plumb may have reserved their unique stamps for when they made axes for different companies?

My eyes aren't as keen as they once were. I don't see those stamps on your axe. I would presume they were put there by the buyer.

Never seen one either. It's a cool pattern, especially for a Plumb.
 
Your eyes are just fine, they aren't on this axe! Hahaha. I was asking because they are absent on this one and if i knew what year plumb started using them that might help me date it. Too funny. Somebody scratched the letter k in it but that's it.
 
have not been garage saleing for a year or so---a storage unit rents empty units for 20 dollars for the day---there was bout 30 sales at this storage unit----found all these axes-ZENITH plane -WITHERBY chisels and few other items all in one vicinity...75 dollars invested here...good day makes me want to go out and about again but I have way to much now.....never thought I wood say that!!!!!:D:thumbsup:DSC01663.JPG
