It followed me home (Part 2)

That is a beautiful set of Aussie axes that you wouldn't garage sale find here in the US! The shipping alone from Australia/New Zealand keeps me at bay. They all come from the same fellow?

I think in this case Craftsman isn't the maker, it's a quality tier/line of Hytest axes.

They did all come from the same guy. He also had a racing axe but I just couldn’t ante up for it. Shipping them all together helped a lot with that cost.

These are fresh from down under. I had to check them out and get pics before even taking them into the house.

That Craftsman is super nice. It was Hytest's mid-line axe. The Forester was their premium axe and the Challenger was their home owner axe. Fine piece!

Whaaat!? Awesome man! I didn't know craftsman made a racing axe. Or Tasmanian pattern i guess? Those are sweet! I am truly envious!
'Craftsman' was a style of Hytest axe.

Sears "Craftsman" actually did have a racing axe that was sold as a racing axe. Some time in the early 1990's I was walking thru the Missoula Montana Sears and there it was in the axe rack. I bought it just for grins. It was advertised as a racing axe but it was only marked with "Craftsman" The head was shaped somewhat like a Connie and I had the feeling that it was made by Mann, but I don't know that for sure. I sold it a few years ago during my first big "axe downsizing event" when I moved from Montana. The wife is now directing another axe downsizing event soon for me. I have mixed feelings about that!

That is interesting about the craftsman. I was quite surprised to see that racing axe with that brand name on it!
If your wife wins and you have a down-sizing event, can i have a look at what you are getting rid of? I'd love to purchase some and give them a nice home! At least i know they've been taken care of!

Of course she will win, she did 5 years ago in the first event. I believe it will happen some time in the next couple of months. Like last time, it will be handled by a ebay seller. I will try to give you a heads up. I want them to have a nice home!
That would be much appreciated Old Axeman! I'd be honored to have one of your axes and i hope that works out. So please do give me a heads up!

Yes...words of a married man.
All wives win. Always. All we can do is put off, distract and postpone the inevitable defeat and soften the blow when it comes:cool:;)

O Old Axeman I hope your wife is well after the accident, and insurance is playing square.

got these today on a whim, 15 for the bits is a good price considering i paid 15 for 3 earlier cause damn are square shank twists hard to find. if you're wondering why i'm looking for them, they're for my breast drill since it can't take auger bits, more for drilling metal in terms of design.

now this guy didnt follow me but i bet you guys would have nabbed it for the handle at least

Here are two petite additions to my stash including a miniature carpenter's hatchet and my first cruiser. Each one is shown in the photos with a second hatchet/axe for size comparison. The hatchet is as found, showing no attempt by the dealer at cleaning or restoration. The haft is a bit loose, and the unpainted area of the blade a bit rusty. I'll probably knock some of the rust off, but I won't do much more than that. I love it the way it is! The Cruiser came from a tool-collector/dealer, so I'm sure it has had some cleaning but only to the point that I would have done myself. I believe gray steel should be gray!

It is not a cast piece like you would expect a child's toy to be, but rather a nicely shaped and proportioned hatchet head. I love the nail-pulling notch!

I think the imprint on the handle says "BLUE OAK". Does that sound familiar to anyone? The DB is an OVB that weighs 2 pounds more that the Plumb Cruiser. T-A
