Haha! I'm the one that originally coined that slang term for kneepads about a dozen years ago. No bull. Cool to see that it's made it's way across the country.

hahaha, nice!
it's been a standard term in this house for nearly 10 years!

I picked all these up from one vendor at Trader Jacks, a Flea Market here in Pittsburgh. Missing from the pic is 5 auger bits for a brace I got last week. I made my pile of goods and he said $110 and of course I offered a hundred even. We flipped a quarter for it and the vendor got to get an extra bag of kettle corn. The longer axe is stamped Kelly and I don't see a mark on the painted one, nor do I see one on the crosscut saw. It has metal handles that I will replace, but I will keep the cover and the Carp Shop stamp that's punched into it. Now to clean all these up :D

OOOOoooo... a straight haft. Do I need one?
These pictures make me want to take a wire wheel to my two restorations.

What's the story here, DJG????

Probably a hairline crack in the eye then when the wedge was driven home it caused it to split. It only goes down about 1/4 inch so I hope it doesnt spread If it does ill just get it welded together.

Bummer. I imagine I would have muttered some fairly lower rung words.

I'm pretty sure I did...The whole thing probably weighs about 1.5 lbs. so it wouldn't be used for any heavy work anyway so i'm not too worried about it.

I think a nice 5 lb 'rafting' axe is next on my list.
That turned out very nice Trailmaker!
What's the handle length?

Thanks. I think it's 28inches but I gave it away so I can't measure it. I've got a few more in reserve that I'll clean up and haft eventually. I think they would make decent splitters.

A Vaughan lineman's hammer, an old Craftsman oval stamp hatchet and an adze-eye axe mattock. The Craftsman needs a new handle. The axe mattock is a POS that might become a plaything for the forge.

Did you mean to say DB handles? I haven't seen a SB Puget.

Happy hunting down there. And if you're wanting to sell one of those long handles then I know a guy who might take one off your hands.
