They're easy to acquire but the shipping costs to Germany will add considerably to the price. Good American-style axes are sold on ebay every day. And hickory handles are easily ordered online.

Both are new, just a little rust on the spokeshave. A151 Record and Hytest Trojan.Whats NOS Hytest worth?

Moose - Where do you come up with these racing axes!?!?

That 151 is sweet too!!!

Thanks. Just lucky Lately.Traded a guy a axe I had ground for the new hytest. And the 151 was given to me by a good friend, who also gave the hytest to the guy I got it from.

Now I see them :)
yep, I'd say that's up for 'the beater award' :D

that Plumb Victory however, is a real beauty!

A couple more axes from an estate sale this morning. Both in very good condition with good handles and leather sheaths.

In_cases.jpg

The larger one is a 3.5 lb. Plumb on an original 33" handle. I originally planned to flip this one but I don't have a full sized axe on a 33" handle and I've wanted to try one in that length. So for now it stays.

The smaller one is a Collins Hudson Bay on a 27-1/2 boy's axe handle. The wedging isn't done well but the handle is in good condition despite having a crappy grain. I'll set the head down onto the shoulder and shorten it to about 26" overall.

The cases will get passed around and used on whichever axes I'm traveling with.

The Plumb stamp. This is a Perma-bonded head. The poll is clean and the bit is in good condition and sharp enough to use as is.

The Collins needs some profile work on the edge. It's my first Hudson Bay style axe. I'm not enamored with them because the short eyes limit them to light duty work.

My only HB is a tiny hatchet, but since you don't like it already, you better send it to me!!! :D

I like Hudson Bays for their packability. Lightweight head, yet a relatively wide blade that has good carving ergonomics for things like tent pegs make it a good camping axe. Like all axes, you have to weigh the purpose and design advantages with the shortcomings.

Pegs...
I got to looking at those sheaths again and thought that the brand looked real familiar. My F-in-L (he's in his early 70's) gave me his Sears 'Craftsman' 3 1/2 Lb DB (that he has had since he was a teenager) several years ago and the sheath that is on it is the same brand as yours. It's a really nice sheath!
