Yeah, Bear. Nicholas has been around for quite a while. I think they're most known for their nailbags which are very popular in the construction industry. They also make high quality knee pads (Lewinskis).

another for the beater award.

And another shot of the Plumb victory all finished.

I love the looks of the plumb. Nice work

Well I picked these two guys up a couple of weeks ago. If anyone has info on the Titan it would be awesome if you would let me know.

The little hatchet I picked up off the bay and the little collins I picked up today at a local antique joint. If anyone can tell me what the collins is that would be awesome.

Cool stuff. I like the Montgomery Ward stamp on the framing hatchet. The Collins looks like it might be a boy's axe. What are the dimensions?

Oh, I do like that straight-hafted Titan. Nice score.

Very nice Moose!
I've got a couple of those Flint Edge crusiers in near mint condition. Both have original handles and one is an old FS axe that seems hardly ever used :)

It looks like that one will clean up nicely.

falls city axe.jpg

Snagged this yesterday at the flea market - Falls City Kelly Works single bit. Don't know anything about that era except that it was likely made sometime between 1930 and 1940.

True Temper DB.jpgtrue temper db2.jpg

Also picked up this True Temper Kelly Works DB at the same flea market. Both this and the Falls City will require new hafts. The guy I picked up the True TEmper from had another that he wanted more money for. The grub bit was butchered, with that side of the axe probably an inch and a half shorter than the other side. I wouldn't have recognized that if I hadn't been hanging out on this forum! Wouldn't have known to pay extra special attention to it. I think they were charging more because the haft was in better shape.

SP, the back of the head is 2_1/8ths". I'm still pretty new to this does this qualify as a boys axe?

Yep, I'd say that's a boy's axe. One of my favorite sizes. To be sure a boy's axe eye should be about 3/4" x 2-3/16".

I love that it's on a cooking scale. I use ours for weighing axe heads, and for home brewing, but never for cooking:)

I also use the oven for tempering knife blades.

Dang I meant to make a disclaimer about that. Please don't tell my wife is was using the cooking scale for this. :)

It's a little smaller than that. 11/16ths x 2 1/16ths. I guess that means while I'll have to do some extra work whittling down a regular boys axe handle it should make for a really good fit.

SP I should also ask if a standard boys axe handle would be ok. I'm making an assumption and I'm really new at this so I should back up and ask the experts. Anyone have any thoughts
