Sweeeet!

I wish people had those kinds of yard around here:)

And is that a Connecticut or a Tasmanian? Nice either way.

Here's a contrasting haul: just one axe and one boy's axe handle. The only mark on the axe that I can see is a boldly stamped "ben hur", which seems an odd name for an axe.
I'll have to take good care of this one. The previous owner has used it with respect and skill. He wasn't happy to see it go, but said "I can't swing it anymore".

Small haul from a flea market the weekend before last, got em' all for $15

plumb boys axe

and a champion (never heard of them, but the head has a great shape.)

cleaned up the boys axe this week and put it on an octagonal house handle.

And a NOS Norlund camper axe?(I think, I've never seen one with a beveled poll like this one has though) that I got at a yard sale with this little plumb boy scout hatchet and a norton whet stone. Man do I wish that paper label was still intact.

Thanks, I've been really trying to get to the flea markets and yard sales this year. The stuff I see you guys bringing home in this thread has real motivated me, either that or my axe "addiction" is just getting worse. If you check out the yesteryear tools site, Norlund made a few different head patterns besides the HBs.

Hola, fellas, long time no chop.
Picked up this Rixford 2lb last month, haven't touched it yet:

I stopped at my first yard sale of the year today and found this for $5:

The handle was cracked but here it is after the wire wheel.

Here's an interesting little tool I made to dig out wedges. It's just made from a scrap of unknown high carbon steel. I hardened it and tempered it back to purple. It's real handy. It's tapered to match the shape of a wedge.

call me stupid, but i can't imagine how it works! any picture in action?

I beat it into the wedge in a downward forward motion and pry up the bits. Old wedges come out in big pieces. Fresh wedges take a bit more work they eventually come out.

I picked up this trio at a 2nd hand store last weekend. The one with the handle is a 3.5# Plumb. The one without a handle is a 3.5# Warren. I really love the shape of the Warren. The machete is a Barteaux - made in Portland OR, USA.

I scored a few new goodies at the flea market this weekend. This is a Disston 54" perf-lance. It's got one rusted tooth that would need about 1/8" of jointing to make good. I'm not gonna worry about that one tooth. No use losing all that metal for one tooth. The D-handle is cracked but usable and the auxiliary isn't froze up.

Here's a pickaroon and a full size Norland. The Norland is pretty fresh. It's got a massive poll. I bet it's a 4-pounder.

Post-optional post vise? This sucker weighs 50 pounds.

The inside jaw has a hole at the bottom, so figure I cold make a post/leg by shouldering a piece of iron, or cobble something together with pipe, or rest it on timber. This thing would probably be best mounted on a post in the ground. Odd bench attachment too, it seems to me. But for $20, I think it's quite close enough to what I was looking for.

Nice stuff. Hard to get a good buy around here on saws. They think they are special.
I havn't seen a norland like that. What do the cheeks look like? Worth a few bucks no doubt with the original sheath also.
