Here's a Vaughan Super Steel I got for four dollars this morning. About 2 or 2.25 pounds, on a 20-inch handle.

One big steel wedge, a spike, and a brad were half- holding it together. I've replaced those with ironwood.

Is it a rockaway or a Jersey with rounded lugs. :D

It does look like it's had hardly any use. Only issue was it's probably been sitting outside for sometime. It has cleaned up nice I think. Pics to follow.

It is a Jersey. Not many rockaways around.

I know it's not super old but I sometimes I can't resist those buy it now auctions.

You know it would be well cared for.

Antique store in NH.

$2 - Union Tool Co., Charleston, WV

$7 - Plumb axe

Mill bastards - a little rust but unused. $2

Got this snow & nealley wedge double on ebay for $20.

Maybe I should get pics, but I had a good run this weekend. And last weekend. And the weekend before it. BUT.

This week
Suspected S&N 3lb, $3...
LL Bean hatchet, $5...
Made in West Germany 1 3/4lb, Made in Sweden 2 1/4lb, Snow and Nealley 3lb, suspected S&N 2 1/2lb, $15

Past weekends
Estwing, $5
2 1/2lb double, its a made in china but the profile is sooo nice I'll risk it, $5 (with a free come along)
Handforged khukri, poor temper, $2
Craftsman hatchet with octagon handle, $10
Homestead 4lb Jersey, $4
Unknown 2 1/2lb, $3
Unknown maine double, $18 (ya ya...)
Plumb 2 1/2lb, $5 (with a sandvik bow saw)

I forget what else... but I've had a productive month. More than I've bought all winter.

I've been to PA and NY, and added a few stamps to my collection.

(An unmarked 3-lb DB head for $10.)
A Plumb hatchet with the anchor trademark stamp- my first one of those. At $12, pretty steep, I'm afraid.
A Collins from Collinsville with a stamped crown with something sticking out of it, in rockaway pattern I think. $15 that I don't regret at all. 36" helve.
An old DB for $18- I don't think the dealer saw the faint stamp: "LEE HDW Co". It might be the Lee Hardware Co that spun off early from the HD Lee Mercantile in Salina Kansas. (It's a lot easier to find stuff on their jeans and uniforms than their axes.) 32" helve.
Mann edge tools boys axe on a 24.5" straight handle.

The Collins was hung upside down after the top of the eye had been deformed by hammering. Hence the extra fat wedging. We'll see how that works.

Dang! I thought you were an alright guy. Now I really don't know. Jealous as hell.
I am just going to tell myself that you gave too much for that Tuatahi.
If you decide you don't like it I would drive up there and give you a fair price for it.
I think the "B" stands for bad.
Right after my pic of my treadle grinder that was backed over by a truck. Brutal!
