Forums 101 is a Moderator can post in closed threads most of the time. GodModding happens...Mods are people and mostly members first. Usually cooler heads prevail and sometimes just walking away from the keyboard is best for all concerned.

Also you might be interested in this tidbit of info. In message boards like this there is a data log of all activity that happens including moderator and admin actions. So if needed a mod can prove their points with data.
 
I have respect for Karda, but we don't see eye-to-eye on many aspects of social interaction. He has his way, I have mine, neither of us is likely to change the other's approach or perception.

Why does it take all this nonsense just to air that out? That was amazingly civil. It would have been more so if it weren't on a public thread and had happened via e-mail.

I haven't...and I certainly saw nothing in the threads in question to indicate that something of that nature was going on.
Sounds to me like people catching hard feelings over nothing substantive.

Authority Figures always quote the rules while beating you...it does not make them good or just.

Neither does it make them abusive. The rules here are quite succinct, to the point and clear.
All agreed to these rules when they signed up on this site.
If one fails to read, understand or follow the rules, it is not the moderator whom is to blame.
If one ends up with a warning or infraction for not following said rules, it is not the moderator whom is to blame.
 
I can say that I am impressed that the mods are allowing this thread. Many sites would not allow this discussion. It is nice to see.

Anything written by man is up for interpretation or misinterpretation by Authority figures. i also think it's a sign of a good mod to work softly. Mods that are always handing down punishments and Butt-chewings are bullies plain and simple.

I skimmed them and it's the same trouble makers that turned me off this place months ago. I thought that maybe I should be silent no more, I'm sure I'm not the only one that has felt the heavy handed arrogance of Karda and maybe just maybe something might get done about it. I'm sure if you take him out for a beer he is a swell guy but perhaps being a Mod is too much for him right now. Much like the nice students that turned into Monster Authoritarians in the Stanford Prison Experiment.

From my perspective and several other people on here feel the Arrogance...sure it's just an opinion but a valid one backed up by others.
 
Respectfully

I believe Kardas intent is well meaning when it comes to the last thread

He feels that a working man displaying his wares deserves respect and a light hand should be dealt if comments are to be on the negative side

I agree with him

My passion for the hobbie is directed elsewhere from really offering negative comments on blades that do not catch my interest

Some collectors on the custom forum are passionate about their hobby and their comments follow suite.

I believe it is when people offer criticism with a wise ass connotation. This is when problems start. When this happens it seems the criticism is meant with ill will and things usually go down hill

The same can be said about moderation
 
The main problem I have (and the main reason I've been so vocal here) is that I agree with these assertions, but you have all got to understand that the issues you are bringing up are moot.
The focus of this thread, to my understanding, was to stir up some kind of revolt.
It's a TESTAMENT to the mods that they are not moderating here. Kudos to all of them for being so patient with this nonsense.
You guys have got to learn how to work with systems. This is a system. All of this is a system. Wise up and you'll be heard. Geez.
 
All I can relate is my experience with Karda. I have, on at least one occasion, argued directly with him in a somewhat heated discussion. Everything was very civil and I never felt anything beyond reasoned disagreement. I never felt that I was at any risk of moderation, bullying or harassment. Obviously, some people do feel bullied and harassed and that is unfortunate, and I hope it's resolved appropriately, but if Karda was truly pushing a 'my way or the highway' attitude I don't think our interaction would have gone the way it did.

Apparently not. There some personalities that MUST have the last word. (Sort of like a wife?) They can't see that they are making fools of themselves.

It is however, entertaining. :D
