how bout the mods just close it to CONUS members

How about everyone get rational, start being a little more reasonable, and stop arguing over silly little things instead?
Based on the link provided, just about everything that can be considered useful, fun, or otherwise is not able to be imported into Russia.
https://about.usps.com/publications/pub141/russia.htm

There really is no point in arguing amongst the membership here regarding an issue like this, it was already discussed previously. If another thread like this pops up again, then we may end up having to close that one before it gets this kind of traction. If any of the mods have anything more to add to the discussion they can open it back up, but at this point the horse has decomposed completely.

On morda's admission that he was scale 3.5, I banned that account as a duplicate of the one he wanted to continue using.

Yet is permitted to continue with the other account? This guy had dual handles even posting on the same day, in the same thread with different IDs. He also posted random comments on nonsense in my sale threads and now posts claims with no substance against a member in good standing that follows the rules.

Scale3.5, aka morda, whomever holds no credibility as far as I'm concerned.

Ya hes foreign...
At the end of the day Morda is the one holding the short end of the stick.

Then maybe he shouldn't be making deals or agreements he has no intentions abiding too. What are sellers supposed to do loose a thousand dollars to his Countries customs or government thieves in hopes to get a knife into some corrupted cesspool

Just so it's clear on what USPS has to say about responsibility....

USPS said:
Allowable Contents

Documents and non-documents (merchandise) with restrictions as defined by each destination country are in Section III. See Countries and Cities Served information under Documentation Requirements in Section III for specific restrictions that apply to the destination country. In a limited number of situations, additional documentation may be required. The sender is responsible for determining if the item is allowable despite any statement made in Publication 141, on the Global Express Guaranteed Web site, or by a Postal Service employee or the Postal Service's agents.

And a question for Hoodep.....

1) Did you check the box on the customs form you filled out that requests that the item be returned to you if it is held as a prohibited/undeliverable item?

2) Have you contacted Russian customs to find out about your shipment and to request that it be returned, so that you may refund the buyer?

What about my questions posted earlier? Why is this thread still continuing?

USPS pointed out the website to me and what it states. While they are the authority on the matter, there is something to be said for accepting and insuring an item they knew was prohibited. The clerk would have had it on their screen when the destination was selected. I was not provided any list of prohibited items or questioned when I mailed it other than about lithium batteries.

1) Yes, I checked the box for undeliverable items to be returned. It did not say anything about prohibited items, however.
2) I am still taking night classes to learn Russian.

In all seriousness, From conversation with scale3.5, I do not doubt the item was taken along the way or by whomever picked it up. The problem is USPS denied the insurance claim. I posted the item for sale with international shipping at the buyer's risk. As previously posted, I followed up on the situation and did my best to try to collect on the insurance for quite a while. I have tried to explain this circumstance to scale3.5's email for several months but he refuses to accept it apparently. I am done with this matter.

USPS is in the business of providing shipping/mail service. They are not further obligated, beyond postings on their site, to ascertain whether or not a seller is shipping prohibited items where they are not allowed. That is the seller and the buyers responsibility. It is the seller and the buyers responsibility/due diligence to do their own research. No one else is responsible to provide that information to them on a silver platter.

You don't need to learn Russian to contact customs. I'm quite sure they have the capability to understand English quite well. Contacting them is the only way to ascertain whether or not they received and are holding the package or whether the shipment was lost by the carrier along the way.

If this shipment was sent in the most secure manner available the chances would be a lot less likely that it would go missing along the way.

I stated USPS was the authority on the matter, no question to that. The rest are merely my thoughts and no claims otherwise.

As I understand it, Scale3.5 had the package, claims the knife was missing from it. He reported this to the authorities there, situation was reported to USPS with the insurance claim. USPS denied the claim.

I've been a member in this forum for over four years and have followed the rules with no problems or issues. If anyone raised any problems or concerns after a deal with me, I did my best to make it right with them. Would say my feedback here speaks to this circumstance. I do not know who took this knife, all I know is I posted international shipping responsibility with the buyer, packed it well and shipped it as agreed with the buyer. After he claimed it was not in the package, I did my best to help him in this situation, for several months nonetheless.

Meanwhile scale3.5/morda has not presented any clear information here as with communications with me directly. He has been allowed to operate outside of the forum rules with dual accounts {it seems with the only repercussion closing one of the accounts}, posted nonsense in my threads as well it seems other's possibly {after reviewing other posts}, and finally has posted random stuff here to defame me twice now.

I have replied to the mod that inquired as well as here in the thread with the details. Case is closed in my book. If a mod seems to think otherwise, please let me know.

EDIT: It seems someone stated I forced scale3.5 to purchase insurance or he paid for it in addition. This is not the case, the item's price was negotiated, shipping and insurance were provided by me. I did not force anyone to do anything. The rest I have explained re: insurance claim denied.
