It's not much...

That's me the around and around spinner dude. No focus, no concentration, not a collector more a accumulator attracted by sharp pointy shiny things and all things that go bang.

If you've got an e-nep and khukri already, you have to get a Malaysian parang and finish off the "big Asian chopper" trifecta! I bought a couple awhile ago sans hilts. I put a hilt on one but I never finished off the other... I need to get on that.

Hmm Parang or Golok? or is there really a difference? And any suggestions on makers that are similar to HI and the guy who makes the E-neps by hand? I am looking to keep away from the mass market manufacturers and stick to the folks similar to HI. Traditional and done right.

I'm not sure if I'll put this one on the wall or not... it's definitely purdy enough and "authentic" enough, but it's a working knife. It'd be like putting a KLVUK on the wall instead of putting it to actual use.

My KLVUK hangs on the wall when I'm not using it. I think it gloats to the rest of the knives about how I love it the mostest.

I got mixed up on Parang and Barong, not surprising I reckon considering the memory capacity and all.

I guess I could put it up the wall, but since wall space is at a premium I've only put dedicated "wall hangers" rather than ones I intend to beat up.

Some videos of borneo parangs and how they're made and used:

The "action" doesn't start until the 1:50 mark, but there's what looks like an old Mandau at 1:30 that might interest Gehazi... Pretty crude looking forge, interesting they use a rock instead of an anvil.

A video of another kind of forge.

Whelp, Sent him an email asking if he had any of the Parangs left, and saying if he had one let me know and I would paypal him. Waiting to see if any of them are still available. That makes umm 9 nice big sharp knives of my very own and still not a one of them that isn't a worker. hehe, Hubbies are all wall hangers mine are all yard bangers.

Good luck! We should start a "parang/khukri/e-nep " club. I still don't have an enep so I can't join, but I'm working on it...

Anayak e-neps or however you spell it is a tough one to get. They never seem to have them available. I finally caught him when he had 3 for sale, was almost as good a feeling getting a response for that as it is hearing Done Deal from Auntie.

I've been watching his facebook page but it seems like the ones he shows always go to some reseller in Canada?

I guess we should add barongs and goloks to the club. I've got a golok but no barong..

Guess im gonna have to make me one:D

Why look elsewhere HI makes em, perhaps once everything gets going again we can see if a run of them can be done again.

Here is one made by bidor

The HI version looks awesome. The bidor one I don't like the plastic handle. Guess I could have it rehandled but, I really want a traditional one (also why not looking at a Condor made one <Ecuador>)

I actually have three of them and did a rehandle job on one, I used a piece a cherry and wrapped it with epoxy coated twine and a piece of copper pipe, the blade is pinned and epoxied under the copper, it will never come off, and it feels great in hand.

Alright Pugs! What else you got stashed over there? HI Parang:eek: Thats a new one on me! I buy one of them in a sec. very nice!
