All this axe and hatchet talk around convinced me to get my first axe. Got here today and had to go out for a bit and play. Very fun.

Is that a Council Tools axe?
Yup.

looks good, needs to be stripped tho ;)
Was the factory sheath sh*tty??
It will be stripped. I got a batch of knives ready for stripping so I figured I'd throw the axe in there too.

As for the sheath, it didn't even come with one. It just showed up in a box! I know the covers on these are usually leather but I'm wondering if I could just get some sort of kydex rig to cover the edge with some sort of retention strap.

I am still looking for a True Temper double-bit in good shape, with the ''wedge'' pattern head. One day I will find one that aint beat to heck. I know where a halfway decent one is, I may go back after it.

Dubz....been out of pocket man, hows the situation with "candygate" goin?
Meh, they just told me that crap to appease me. I know they did. They're sneaky bastards. One of the bosses told me this whole factory buy out just started this year. It was in the local paper about them making the move. They told the paper it started 3 years ago. That's how they are. No balls to tell you anything to your face.

EDIT: Candygate, haha. That's pretty good. :D

Heh, i should have specified...i meant the wife's candy issues...
She talked to a lawyer. She was advised to send them a letter. She typed it up tonight. We'll see what happens. Don't want to go into great detail.

Man, this kydex thing is harder than I thought, at least, taco style is proving difficult for me. Props to you kydex benders.

Trying to trade in some text books on amazon. Go to print out the shipping label and the damn printer is out of ink. It's always out and I never use it WTF. Not cool when it is postponing me getting some nice convexy work sharp goodness. At least that's what leaning towards now. Should have about 100 coming back from them. Any other suggestions?

What are ya having issues with? rattle? tip movement? The BK16 is a easy knife to start with.....kinda lends itself to the taco, all the Tweeners do.

I vote you get yourself a semi-decent actual grinder. Liking the craftsman 2x48 I traded for.

I've got a 4x36 Portercable bench grinder that has been doing a pretty good job. The downside is it's at my parents house while I'm living in an apartment away at college. The one thing I don't like about it is there is almost no area where the belt can be used without any solid backing (lax I think is the right term). Just a small area between the contact wheel and where the man flat working surface is. Is the 2x48 what you use on all your knives to shape them and what not?
