Jack's Random Tuesday Carry

My lucky dip today came to me from Albacete in Spain, being made for me by Jose Antonio Herreros, who used to post here at one time. Jose usually works in stainless, but I asked him if he'd use 1095, as I was hoping to make this a user. Despite the knife's attractiveness, that didn't really work out, it's fat in the hand and pocket, so I use a belt sheath, but the real bugbear for me is the shallow nail-nick, which gives barely any purchase, and often fails as you open the knife. So it was quickly relegated to a good-looking safe queen sadly. Be nice to carry it today though

It's beautiful. You could take a dremel cutting-wheel to that nail nick!

I have really been enjoying the Jack & Jer show on Tuesdays, so I thought I might try to join in.
Welcome aboard.
My farmhouse estate sale Schrade, that somebody used both points off of.

Thanks Jer, I don't trust my limited skills! ;) Looks like a useful knife buddy :)
The pseudo-random number generator told me drawer 2 of 3, knife 14 of 21. A 13 would have produced the same results - an Okapi Biltong sheepsfoot - so no brand variety in my pocket today.
Cool knives Tom :)

This knife was sitting on my DR table this morning, returned yesterday by a talented friend who replaced the broken main spring (from many years ago), to new knife crispness, matching the punch!!
Hidden under the "pepper" spots is a nice arched tang stamp, dating this Harness Jack to at least 100 years old!! In use when the first combustion engines were scaring horses off the road, I decided it must continue it's useful (and beautiful) life!! After this post, it goes into my pocket as my random Tuesday carry, and Joy!!Wabi Sabi 1.jpg

That's a really special knife Charlie

Getting on for 30 years ago, Frosts of Mora (now Mora Knives) sent me a whole bunch of knives for review, including 4 or 5 of their Lapplander range. My lucky dip this morning pulled out the mid-sized Lapplander 90. They're great knives, and the cryo-treated Sandvik steel takes, and holds, an excellent edge. The brass on the knives tarnishes almost instantly though, and develops verdigris to an extent I've never seen before. I used to carry these knives regularly, but if I carry one now, I first have to clean the green filth off. Ugh! 😦

Slavishly following the capricious dictates of my machine overlord again today - drawer 2 / knife 10, this Mikov Zero. This same pairing made a very capable camping combo last time I went.
I think that's a very cool-looking pair Tom

Wow!

Send them to me! I'll store them in waxpaper!

I have no idea where or whence this one came. Maybe I'll tape the ends and spray the cover area with flexi-seal. It's a very nice knife.

They also sent me 3 different Swedish Army Knives, one of the fancy laminated steel models, which I gave to Duane sitflyer sitflyer about a decade ago, and their UK importer sent me a nice Wetterlings Axe :)

LOL! :D Nice Hammer Brand Jer :)

Might be a fun project Jer. Try a two tone; yellow on one end fading to black on the other.
Not gonna be super smooth but could make what is already a great knife real grippy. 🤞
If it turns out flexi-seal may use it in their commercials. Just don't forget your WIP pics. :)

You've convinced me! Except I'll go all black, because my technical competence always falls short of my searing vision. And I don't have any yellow. Yeah, that's it. No yellow.
