I had an urge for a while to make a churi, but I don't remember why. Because it might lie within my competence? I still have plenty of clothespins that are better than anything I'd be likely to whittle.

I remember cutting down an old carbon-steel table knife some years ago, thought it might be useful in the kitchen I sometimes come across the old wire-bound clothes-pegs, which used to be sold door-to-door here. Might be a useful skill when times get hard

Yeah, I don't think I have a single Sheffield knife with any side to side play, and I have a LOT! This old Lamb looked like it had been run over when I got it, but after I straightened everything out, including the central liner, there is no blade play at all

Not a lot, so far as I know Bob, they certainly didn't make much money, and most died young

Really useful pattern

As you know, I have a Mauser, and carried it for a decade, but I can't say I ever found the extra blade essential, and almost always used the Spear
