January 2023 BOTM Buck 119 in 3V black phenolic

Just now got the text message. It’s nice tough steel and should make a great camping/ woods knife but I have to pass.
 
I'm in for one, the 119's are my main interests. I bought the April 2021 BOTM, which was the 3V 104 Compadre camp knife... I love the 3v blade steel. And I agree, a stacked leather handle would of been a nice touch... which I just may tackle doing, now having the experience from putting this 639 together.

4:19 EST got Buck email but saw the announcement here first. Picked one up but not that excited about it. I suppose I'll need to put some mineral oil on it when I get it. Not familiar with 3V.
 
I didn't even realize the blade shape is different. And the sheath is a special USA one too. So that makes me feel a little better about getting one. I didn't even want to collect fixed blade knives but I find myself building up a collection. This will be my 4th 119. I'm sure that is a humble number compared to some of you guys. They have 510 left as I send this.

I am excited about the 117. I'm sure it will be a BOTM this year. Also, I'll get the reg and pro when available.

I dont think you'll be disappointed. other Bucks I have with 3v have been performing well. they seem to have it dialed in decently.

heres my theory on it.....between phenolic and aluminum, lighter weight 119..never a bad thing. 3v stock....very tough, holds a decent edge, not that hard to touch up. the fuller is gone and that's a plus to me visually. blade shape seems a bit different with the clip point.
so unique and kinda rare.

seems to be moving fast....flippers gobbling it up or maybe just collectors and users..either way once it's gone it's gone. might not see another 119 in 3v. lastly I like the 119.....I find it a good size. not too big not too small. just right.
 
I would have liked that blade shape with a 420HC blade and price. Like the 110 Magnacut, high price for the steel but as a collector I wish they were adding something special to the overall appearance of the knife. Yeah, I bitched but did buy one. Probablly will buy this one too :-(
