January 2023 BOTM Buck 119 in 3V black phenolic

I agree with everyone above saying the blade is very nice. I don't really have the need for a 119 as a user, though, and I don't like the handle enough for a collector.

Think I'll pass, but love that blade. Also, as a side note, did anyone get an email or text for this one?
I got the email earlier today, but passed on it for similar reasons. Plus I added a couple of 3V fixed blades and a Les George Magnacut fixed blade this past month and need more like a hole in the head...

PS: 163 left right now.

Man, that blade shape is gorgeous! That alone makes the knife tempting. I really hope we see it again down the line. I agree with LostViking LostViking , this blade shape with the leather stacked, Brahma handle would be too good to pass up.

I’m going to hold off on this one though. I love 3V, and Buck does a good job with it…. But when I buy a knife in 3V it’s because it’s going to take more abuse than a knife typically does. Both Buck and Morakniv have proven that a knife doesn’t have to be full tang to be tough, but it’s something I would prefer for peace of mind.

Whether any of us, all of us, or none of us, like this knife or any Buck of the Month.

We should all applaud Buck for taking chances and trying new things.
I'm sure the folks at Buck will see where the interest is.

Hopefully this will lead to more and better Buck Knives down the road.

I know if I was a business manager and saw 500 knives sell in just a few days it would have my attention.

LV,

P.S.
Dear Buck Knives,
I'm available for consultation,
Product Testing,
Outdoor in use Photography,
Plus I have a burning desire to live in Idaho!

Seriously,

To echo DeSotoSky DeSotoSky thoughts... a more affordable 420HC version would be perfect. Just as tough as 3V. I have a feeling I will kick myself if I pass on such a great Randallesque blade profile. Love it.

I don't have anything Randall Made that's closer to the new Buck 119, that I can find around here right now. I have lost one in my closet since 2020 and don't even recall what it looks like anymore 😂 This one arrived March 2020 and was for my son's college graduation, but he wanted my Omega Speedmaster Pro Moonwatch more. It just happened to be his birth year watch, fancy that, eh?

Only 66 left, after you all talked me into this BOTM.

WOO-HOO! Thank you Buck! Been asking for this very knife in these BOTM threads for quite a while, would have been cool with micarta but i'm totally fine with the phenolic handle, got two on the way, glad there was some left!

My first real fixed blade hunting knife was a Buck 119, that was some 45 years ago....this is going to be my new camping/fishing/hunting/do everything working blade, the second one is probably going to be claimed immediately by Mrs.Texpat, lol, I do really appreciate my 420HC 119's, but damn I love a good carbon steel blade.

Again, thanks Buck!

Guess what? I just ordered one.
I’ve been pondering it since yesterday. I kept telling myself no no no and yes finally prevailed.
Like I said in my above post it’s a very nice looking blade. I think Buck had a combat style knife in mind when they designed this one. With the blade style and steel used.
I think this will be a top notch collector piece in the future. Might never see this blade style in this knife format ever again. Just my opinion.
