I saw this on the paypal site

Step 1 - Open dispute right away
You can open a dispute
A buyer asks for a seller's help in resolving an issue with a transaction. in the Resolution Center
Located in My Account, the PayPal resource for resolving issues between buyers and sellers. to contact a seller directly and resolve
A buyer and seller come to an agreement and close the case, or PayPal comes to a decision and closes the case. a problematic transaction. You have 45 days from the payment date to open a dispute. Common reasons for opening a dispute include:

•You paid for an item but haven't received it and the seller is uncooperative or nonresponsive.
•You received an item that was significantly different than described.

Click the Report a Problem button in the Resolution Center to open a dispute. Then, provide more information about the issue and post a message to the seller.

Transactions older than 45 days cannot be disputed but should still be reported. PayPal tracks seller performance trends in the event we need to take action to protect other buyers.

It then goes on to saw that the dispute can be escalated to aclaim which they then investigate.

You should contact Paypal and find out what the hell happened and how they can pull the money with out letting you know.

That dude seemed freaking slimy to me. I am so sorry to hear that dude. He tried getting me to ship something to him in Canada. Sneaky dog.

I'm sorry to hear this. Hopefully, you'll still get your grail and get some payback from JY. I can't believe PayPal does that without notifying you.

Hey do you mind if I link this on Jerzeedevil.com. The devils should know about this guys conduct. It is totally wrong.

I'm sorry to hear this man. I hope a phone call to Paypal can shed some light on how they were able to do this and what your recourse would be.

Brad, sorry to hear about this. I would give Paypal a call and see what is going on. I also am having a hard time seeing that they just took it out without any notice. I hope you can get this resolved quickly and still be able to buy that grail knife.

I'll tell ya what. You really find out who your friends are in times like this. I've helped my "friends" out a million times, and the one and only time im down and out, and could really use some help, those "friends" are no where to be found. Figures. I'm sick to my stomach

I'm about half scared to call em cause I don't want them to take that -$500 out of my bank account, cause I don't even think I have that much in there. God I just wish this shit would go away. This little slimy grimy kid has a whole world of bad karma to answer to

You HAVE to call them. Judging by your screen shot, they already took the money man, call them now. This shit doesn't go away until you make it go away

CALL THEM NOW

So let me get this straight, someone can reach into your (or anyone they've bought from) Paypal account weeks after a finalized transaction and snatch their money back? Certainly there has to be a process via Paypal to do this involving proof and or documentation on his part.
Not exactly. What PayPal does is place a hold on the funds when someone files a PayPal claim or (as apparently happened in this case) disputes a charge through their credit card company. The hold on the funds is why Brad's account went negative. However, the funds aren't in the scammer POS's account either, at least until PayPal makes a decision and removes the hold.

Brad, really sorry to hear that this happened to you. However, PayPal isn't a fan of people doing chargebacks through their credit card company instead of using the PayPal resolution process (not that either one was justified in this case, of course). So they may actually have your back on this through their seller protection policy, depending on whether you shipped to a verified address and various other things. You may also give them a call to see whether if you provide evidence that the other party is a serial abuser of PayPal/credit card dispute procedures -- and has been banned from multiple forums for the exact thing he's trying to do to you -- they would take that into account.

I don't think PayPal has transferred the money to anybody yet. They have placed a hold to lock-up the money (yeah, I know this doesn't do you any good), but this looks like the beginning of the dispute investigation. You should be able to have your say right now before they make a permanent decision and keep or return your money.

Couple of questions:
1. Paypal doesn't resolve disputes oder than 45 days.
2. Paypal contacts you first to let you know that a dispute has been filed (this is when they put your funds on hold).
3. If it was a credit card chargeback, the still have to have an investigation first where they contact you to get your side of the dispute.
4. Even credit cards do not follow-up on claims that are filed 6-months later.

Now if you do your research and can find other evidence that Jason Yao has done this on other transactions, try to get these other guys to make statements about being charge-back after seemingly good transactions. PayPal and the CC companies will also have records of inordinately high incidences of claims for money-back by Jason Yao. They would be able to see a pattern to this guy's activities.

Call Paypal immediately.

Sorry to hear this, man. I do think that it's worth a shot to plead your case, even if you don't still have the receipts. I'd be willing to bet that this isn't the first time PayPal has heard of something like this happening and they might have suggestions on how you can still prove your case. They may even have complaints on file concerning Mr. Yao.

Best of luck to you and I hope you get your money back.
