Lesson learned. I was too trusting at the time and had no reason to suspect anything like this would happen. Pretty naive huh!?! Im definitely keeping all forms now, and here's a lesson for ya folks, just because the buyer agrees to assume all risk, that doesn't mean they'll follow through with it.

Hey Brad........ pssssssssssss...... It's not over yet.... wake up, stop wining and DO SOMETHING or it WILL become a reality.

what exactly do you mean by "at his risk" wasn't true?
When you sell something via paypal, you the seller are at risk regardless of where or how it ships. You are responsible for ensuring the customer receives the product.

I'll be honest man, you're pissing me off by not calling PayPal and taking charge of shit. I would have made the call before posting. IF you don't call them, you're just taking it in the rear. Actually, you're offering it up without a fight.

Maybe somebody can help me out here. I tried calling Canada Post and they are closed for the day. I can't find anything on their website to track my package through customs. Is there a way to track a USPS package through the Canada Post?

Just enter the number on the Customs Form into the USPS website like you would with a Delivery Confirmation Number.
Most of the time these numbers don't show it was delivered, BUT do show it was accepted at the Post Office you shipped it from.
Hope this helps.
Mike

For the win.....

+1 on what these guys said. Seriously, Brad, call PayPal. As a lot of us have mentioned, the money has NOT been given to the other guy yet, just placed in limbo. This isn't over unless you throw in the towel by not giving them a call or doing anything else to fight this.

That proves you mailed something, but does not prove either the contents or if it was successfully delivered to the recipient. If there is only one or two claims by the Buyer, Paypal will rule in their favor BUT if the Buyer demonstrates a pattern of making claims, then this will help to influence Paypal to rule in your favor.

I'm sure everyone will say I should go ahead and call immediately anyways, but here's my reasoning for not calling PayPal yet:

I don't have the remaining five hundred dollars to pay back in my bank account right now. I'm afraid that when I call PayPal, they will immediately close the case upon me telling them I don't have any records of the shipment. Then they will proceed to take the five hundred dollars out of my bank account, which has a balance of four dollars. I want to wait until Monday when i have the money to put into my bank account, that way it doesn't cause me a huge overdraft at my bank. I'm not doing very well financially at the moment, and I need a couple days before they take that money out of my bank account, which im nearly positive they will do, regardless of what I have to say. I don't expect anyone to understand. But that's my explanation for what it's worth

You are behaving like you are guilty. Stop. Take a deep breath, and fight it.

Why would Paypal immediately close on you? Have you heard anything from Paypal announcing this investigation? It's almost like you did receive notification and ignored it until i's too late and Paypal is taking your money now. Please don't say this is what happened.

I'm still skeptical that the transaction happened months ago. The timeframe doesn't make sense.

All paypal wants is proof you mailed it since they don't control the post office. Even with delivery confirmation the guy can say he never got it. im sure his claim doesn't state "I got an empty box" its says never arrived. Show em you mailed it and their hands are tied. You win. End of story.

You can track USPS service door to door from USA to Canada. Pay for Expressmail approx $30 and it gives you the total tracking all the way. I have used it a lot and it works great. If I were shipping a $500 knife, it would go Expressmail without a doubt. Can't remember but it includes some insurance too.

Agree with RNST. I cant speak for Canada, but there's always tracking on USPS on express mail, for those of you wary of shipping overseas. Also, I am surprised that Paypal can put a hold on someone's $$ more than 45 days after the payment is sent. This right to recourse seems to be terribly unjustified and unreasonable.

A 'Yao' guy out of Canada just contacted me over at britishblades, I wasn't selling what he wanted but I'd be super wary of him now.

OK I am not standing up for the guy, but it is possible that he hasn't received the knives yet. I ordered a handle block from Its a Burl and it took 35 days for it to arrive. Thing is that before just jumping in and taking his money out of your account he should have contacted you. I contacted Mark after 30 days to see if he could track from his end, but he couldn't so he sent me a new block. When the original came in I contacted him again and am paying for the second block too now. Right now Canada Post is slow, real slow.

I hardly ever, if ever, make a comment on something like this. But if
you are having financial trouble anyway, why don't you close your
bank acount. I assume at that point you have the upper hand, or
am I missing something?

You can get ahold of him on facebook. The scumbag tried to scam me a couple months ago and had the nerve to try and add me on facebook not two weeks back. He's active on Jerzee Devil I think... I'm not sure if they've banned him yet. The dude's seriously a lowlife.
