I watched the vid.My point was what good did posting the vid do?You or CRK don't know what or if there is a problem.

I just think a few more tests should be performed with various materials. Its always good to double check and make sure the results are conslusive.
I enjoy watching your vids and don't believe theres any ill will in making this vid. I would like to see how an S30V sebbie performs with the same test.
I wouldn't mind lending mine for the cause :)

A lot of feedback as expected..

No one wants to see a $400 knife slip through the cracks of QC, but we're all human.
For those who are upset about the video and it's comments...
I think we should all sit tight and see what CRK has to say about the issue rather than continue flaming the video, the knife, and it's comments.

Obviously many will find any excuse to put down CRKs and many who will defend CRK blindly. Not to say this is everyone, but I think we can all agree these people exist.

Again, I hope CRK takes care of the issue.
I love my Sebenza, but I have heard more than a few times of Mr. Reeves attitude while dealing with "issues" not being the most tame.

Nonetheless, I like his knives.

We're all here to share the hobby!

It is an edge retention test. You're acting like I singled out this sebenza, tested it and then proclaimed that the knife is garbage. I have tested 18 other knives before this, NONE of which were damaged anywhere close to this extent.

So yeah, I'd say that I'm pretty confident that there IS in fact a problem. You think this is normal edge behavior for a knife after cutting a little rope? Surely you don't think so. I mean come on, 8CR13Mov did much better than this, and it was around 30 degrees inclusive.

For you to say there is no problem with the knife, you are in turn saying that 8CR out performs CRK's S35VN. No way I believe that 8cr out performs s35, so naturally I believe there is a problem with the knife.

You pretty much articulated what I wanted to say. I just couldn't get it out since I am just trying to keep up with all of the attacks of my character. Lol

Thanks Nathan, and yeah I hope they take care of it too. :)

There's been quite a bit of these quality control problem threads lately. All my crks are gone or on there way out the door anyway.

I would like to test another S35VN blade instead of an S30. I have 2 other S35 sebs, but they are all born within a month of each other, so they may have all come from the same HT batch. Who knows.

See this is what is what I mean.I am not saying you singled out the knife or that there isn't a problem. Why post a "test" with so much unknown?

Why not? I'm not trying to be a smartass, I just fail to see your point. Why wouldn't I post a test? I wanted to see how S35VN held it's edge, so I tested it. I figured other people might like to know also, so I uploaded it. I don't get what you are taking issue with?

Also, another reason why I find it hard to believe that you watched the video. In the beginning I say that "this is one of the most highly requested tests" yet. It was requested, and I was curious - so of course I made a video. As far as uploading it, why don't you go take the time and effort to make a video and then see how you feel about someone telling you not to post it.

He wasn't representing the knife as indicative of the brand. It was a fluke and QC problems get through all the time.
Showing knives with faults is just as important, (if not more) as showing the top of the line, perfect examples of any brand.

Posting a vid like that people will jump to conclusions without all the info. Do you think the knife is in spec or defective?

Well if anyone jumps to conclusions then that is folly on their part, not mine.

I've already answered that question, many times.

My thoughts exactly. I'd be suspicious of a brand if I never saw ANY issues.

I just don't understand how people are so butt hurt over this. The knife didn't perform well at all, and the first thing they start doing is lay blame.

What's unknown? Now he knows that the edge holding ability of that folder is poor at best. I've sold my 4 Sebenza 21s for being blown off by CRK with a problem once, and the others because I keep reading these threads with problems where the owner is - first - mobbed by fans and second blown off by CRK.

If you've sharpened it - you can probably forget about help from them. Hopefully you'll get a new blade if you pursue one.

BTW, it's $410, not $400, if I'm not mistaken. The knife is nice but the treatment recieved with a problem isn't. They're just too darn expensive for this kind of response.

Carry on gentlemen! ;)

What is unknown is two things

1 Is there a problem or is that knife in spec?

2 If there is a problem what is it?

There is a reason when something is tested more than one sample is used.

CTS I am not against you I just wonder why post a vid when you think or dont know for sure the knife is not up to spec?

That's like asking why publish the results of a failed experiment. Simple answer, to learn from it.

Plus, we already know that this one knife out of 18 is the only one to be damaged to this extent. I'd say that's all the evidence needed to be quite sure that there is something wrong.

If you thought the knife was a lemon why post the vid? That is what I dont understand. If it turns out the knife is in spec then you did indeed prove something.

wow this video seems to be blow way out of proportion, Its just a cut test everyone. Yah it may be a heat treat problem or a qc problem but john was only showing us the edge retention of the knife. He does this with many knives. Hes not attacking chris reeves knives but mearly showing his experiences with the one blade. If everyone was criticized for posting there individual experiences then there would never be new ideas out there, but only fan boys opinions. Im not saying I dont like crk; I love there knives, but I dont think that one maker is always perfect and no lemons can slip through. Its just not realistic in thinking that way.

Anyways keep up the good work John and let us know how this one plays out for ya.
