Jerry Halfrich Knives...

Correct it is linerless so it is super light and walk and talk is perfect, half stop flush in all positions too

Looking through this thread it seems like a lot of photos are no longer available to view, which is a sad state, I blame Photobucket for my part of losing a lot of my photos. So, I got this Baby Rounder in today and looked this thread up and wanted to give it a refresh. I was also sad to hear that Mr Halfrich is no longer taking orders but as I myself just turned 70, I can certainly commiserate with him, time catches up to all of us. I am not sure what steel he used in this folder, I tried to find a website of his but no luck, but I sharpened her up tonight as it was one that had been use, I also tried to clean up the scratches that were on the blade so now it looks pretty darn nice and took a very good edge.

I always said that he should change his name to All-Rich ;) with the lovely knives he has made over the years, he certainly should have reached that plateau a long time ago.

Many many years ago I had this lockback in for a sheath, at the time I actually chatted, online, with Mr Halfrich about this knife and how much I admired it. I saved these couple images from the grip of photobucket so the image size was truncated a bit, but you can still see the beauty of his work.

So, you guys and gals that have some of his knives, take the opportunity to add them back into this tread so the youngin's that are just joining can see what a lovely folder should look like ;)

If there's a 5 stamped on the pile side blade, I believe it's CPM-154. I recall seeing that somewhere. My Small Rounder is also stamped with a 5, and it is CPM-154. Nice acquisition, Gary!

This is true, Gary. But not all blades are marked, so the absence of the "5" does not mean it wasn't CPM-154. I don't remember exactly when Jerry started to mark the blades with the "5".

Thanks for confirming that, Elliott. Sometimes I misremember! ;)

Thanks, Gary! I'm glad I was able to help! I just put my Rounder in my pocket!

I noticed that my previous photos which were hosted by photo bucket are no longer showing on the thread. With that in mind here are some pics of my knives from Jerry.

I met Jerry through Elliot (Blues) at Blade Show. Elliot and Gus were mostly responsible for getting me into the traditional addiction.......🤭

Jerry and I quickly hit it off and he made me some beautiful pieces, others I purchased in the aftermarket.
I am particularly fond of my orange G10 handled Guides Knife which Jerry made for me and sent to Paul Long for sheathing. Jerry is a professional hunter and guide in Alaska and this was his "go too" carry knife when he was up there. I wanted a replica of his own knife and he made me this one with the hi visibility orange G10 which allowes the knife to be easily seen in the bush. Like all of his knives it is beautifully made and razor sharp.
I hope the mods will pardon my momentary lapse of etiquette as this is not a traditional knife but rather a real world custom user. However I definitely wanted everyone who appreciates Jerry's work to see this one.🙂

- how utterly sublime is this one, just gorgeous, even from the photo you can tell it just oozes quality - thank you for posting Gary W. Graley Gary W. Graley Will pull mine out and add to this wonderful array sometime soon…

IIRC the man who owned this Rounder owned another knife made by Jerry. That other knife not only had beautifully checked ivory covers, but also had a gorgeous clip point blade. It ended up lost somehow.

😭

Gary:

Love your slip sheath. I have a small sheath you made that rides on my Walden Bag.

Here is a nice Halfrich. Long story about its lineage which involves a cool Texas pilot and Jerry himself. For now, just want to add some pics to this rightfully resurrected thread.

I went back in time in this thread and replaced the nuked Xed-out PhotoBucket fiasco pics, substituting some new ones.
I figured while I was taking pics I'd add a new one of my two Halfrich knives.
The Small Rounder, jigged bone, and CPM-154. At 3 5/8" it is just the right size for my pocket and is a joy to own and use.
My "Jack Russell" fixed blade is also CPM-154 with some nice Sambar stag. Jerry named this pattern after his Jack Russell Terrier, "Bandit" who died in a devastating flood in 1998 that destroyed his home many years ago. (edited to correct the details. Found an old post from Blues Blues ) It's a wonderful knife and a wonderful tribute to a friend now lost. Paul Long made the sheath, which is of exceptional quality.
You'll notice the 5 stamped into the obverse side on both knives, indicating CPM-154 steel.
