Jimislash has a new Competition Chopper

There is something in all of this that doesn't make sense at all.

First we have cold steels narrative:

"2- At the time Mike was employed by GSM and tasked with creating a design and prototype. Mike and three other GSM designers came up with the first iteration/prototype you see Mike posting."

"3- GSM decided to sponsor a Blade Sports competitor who has been a loyal brand ambassador and a true knife loving professional. You all know him as Jimi Slash."

"4- We used the original chopper designs (designed by our GSM team) as a starting point for the Jimi Slash chopper. Many iterations, prototypes and design changes were made along the testing process. These design changes and modifications were given to us by Jimi after all the rigorous testing he did ."

Then we have Mike's narrative:

"I submitted the design to GSM and they sent it to him since he was their latest acquisition. He asked (via email) if it was my design and prototype. I told him it was and he asked if he could purchase it from me. I told him it wasn’t mine to sell he’d have to ask GSM. That was the last I heard about it."

If Cold Steels narrative is true, then why was Jimmy sending emails asking to buy the design? That just doesn't make much sense.

"Here at Cold Steel we love knives and competition so we decided to make a competition chopper! Multiple expert designers had input into this including the legendary Mike Wallace. After showing it to Jimislash he liked it so much he decided to endorse it. We proudly present the Jimislash Competition Chopper!"

There, not hard at all. Everybody wins, Wallace becomes a selling point instead of getting screwed. Fire your marketing team. Yes, you can use it.

Legendary? I appreciate that. Talented? Maybe… I’m not sure I’ve achieved legendary status yet.

I will address your concerns shortly.

Mike,

I think enough has been said for people to form their own opinions at this point. We wish you the best on your future endeavors.
Shaun,
I and many others here don’t think enough has been said.

So here I am speaking for myself.

Then there is you Shaun, who I’m guessing up until a day or two ago had nothing to do with this project. Yet you roll in, and are the mouthpiece for for Jimislash and the “three man design team”. You claim involvement from Blade Sports personnel and several other competitors. Also someone is making physical test blades for all the evolving iterations of Jimislash’s design. So you’re saying there are at least 8 people with direct knowledge of this and not one has come to Jimi’s defense?
You say they are vastly different. Can you cite the differences? Several other members have asked you this question and it has been left unanswered. You say there were countless iterations to achieve what 99% of the people here say is identical to mine or at the very least strikingly close?
I’m sure you thought this was losing steam, shifting to customer service issues, and I’d just go away. You’re not getting off that easy by saying that enough has been said and people can decide for themselves. Too many unanswered questions and unsubstantiated claims by you. You say you are here to address customer complaints. Yet you have only posted in this thread, except for one post in Pictures of your Cold Steel. You are here to quell the insurrection, nothing more.
Shaun why are you here? You are the VP of OEM and Specialty Accounts according to your LinkedIn. Hardly a PR guy and certainly not involved in this project when I was working on it. Why isn’t one of the “Three Man Design Team” members here posting? They would have firsthand knowledge opposed to your secondhand hearsay.
When I found out Jimislash was hired by GSM I contacted him. I knew him prior to this as he purchased a custom knife from me. I asked what he was going to do for GSM. He said he was part of the design team and he was designing a competition chopper. This was in the timeframe that I was near completion of my prototype. I contacted my “Design Team Supervisor” and questioned him about Jimislash. He said he had no idea that Jimislash was hired as a designer and was tasked with designing a competition chopper. He said he wished he’d known that someone else was working on the competition chopper and he’d have assigned me another project, but to finish my prototype and send it in. Wouldn’t the “Design Team Supervisor” be aware another designer was hired and working on the same project? As the supervisor wouldn’t he be the one assigning projects? He always assigned me my projects. I asked if Jimislash / GSM was going to take my design and prototype and have it be the Jimislash Competition Chopper, giving him design credit. He assured me GSM would never give credit for my work to someone else. Well all kinds of reds flags went off. I saw this day coming over a year ago. So I prepared and waited. Here we are.
You see Shaun I scrutinize heavily, save everything, and take diligent notes. I’m very detail oriented, a benefit of my OCD. I gave this situation extra care as I saw the screwing coming a mile away. You say I’m being dishonest, that the original design and prototype aren’t solely mine. You state that it was a team effort with me and three other GSM people including my supervisor. You are calling me a liar. I don’t take kindly to character assassination. My reputation as a designer and custom maker have always been in good standing.
You, as a GSM rep here on BF are publicly defaming my character, integrity, and slandering my good name. Just as Jimislash has done on his YouTube channel. I won’t stand for this and I won’t back down.

It certainly would help if Jimislash would chime in but seeing as though he knows this thread exists and won't comment, well that says a lot to me. I'm solidly on the side of Wallace Edged Tools from the evidence I've seen.

As if that situation isn't bad enough, I find it absolutely horrifying that the company who has brought us some of the strongest, highest quality knives ever came into this thread and questioned the legitimate criticism our members had over this garbage below, even claiming "they are damn nice for the price". For someone concerned about the future quality of the company, that's scary stuff to hear from a higher up.

I will address your concerns shortly.
Sorry but you didn't really address it. You didnt say anything about him asking to purchase your design.

If your knife was sent to Jimi by cold steel, with them asking him to test and improve the design, why would he then ask to buy the design from you? He would already know cold steel owns it?

It's very confusing.

I had an ongoing dialogue with Jimislash via email about my competition chopper prototype. Also he wanted to possibly order another custom knife from me. GSM sent him the knife. Upon receiving it he reached out and asked a few questions. One of this questions was if GSM was returning it to me he wanted to purchase it. I replied by telling him that it wasn’t mine to sell and he’d have to contact someone at GSM to see if he could buy it.

I see Shaun more as VP of Confusion and Misdirection. As the old saying goes: If you can't dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with Bull****. JimiSlash's lack of participation here is telling.
I just don't get it. As other people said before, JS could have suggested some kind of collaboration with Mike Wallace and try to learn something. Oh well.

I see. So the two other people in this situation are probably the people who prepared the final production version, based of your prototype, with testing and maybe some small changes suggested by Jimi so he could technically claim a design role.

Those two other "designers" probably work in the factory where the knives are made, maybe in Taiwan? That would expalin why they wouldn't be on here.

The "Many iterations, prototypes and design changes" they made were probably the normal process they go through when getting a prototype ready for production.

I think GSM has over played thier hand in this, overstating their and other people's involvement. Those knives are not "vastly different". They should have just said "subtly different".
