Good write up, Peter!

Hi folks -

Peter is a tough act to follow, but I will give it a shot! Thanks for the great job Peter!

Week 5 was a week of highs and lows, with the Jabronis killing it and staying undefeated, while several teams were unable to bread out of the 60s.

The Honey Badgers, through their frst pass at the rodents, matched up with the Eminems, putting up double digits in all positions except his flex and his K. Pretty impressive lineup for the week, although Matt Ryan did not score a ton, the even scoring across the board and the Eagles killing it against a hapless Rams added up to 105 points and a win. Marshall Mather has to be kicking himself for not starting Wilson, who had a career best game best I can recollect. Another kick in the teeth was a ZED from Calvin Johnson who has a rather distressing ankle injury. Khiry showed up, and 9 out of the Chargers D were other bright spots in an otherwise depressing day I am sure. Hang in there MM, Calvin will be back, and you have a lot of talent on that team. It's a long season yet.

The Honey Badgers 105

The Beavers got handed a nailbiter of a defeat that went to MNF to resolve, when going in the Jackhammers had a Beast running against the skins, and he proved up to the name. Marshawn needed 15 for the win (a tie would have gone to the hammers) but her put up 17 for good measure. Jackhammer was also saved by his D/K putting up a combined 20 points. The Hammers left 28 points on the bench in the up and down Arian Foster. Jay Cutler put up 27 points on the Beavers bench, enough extra to have given her the win. Ya just never know, and the matchup was fun to watch (I had to listen to Maggie gasping when the Beast got the ball all evening lol...)

The Bucky Beavers 66
Jackhammer 68

The Steelers could not skin the Wabbits this week, who put up 83 points and the win. It came down to MNF again, where the Steelers sadly had put all of their eggs in the Redskins D, proving to be a losing coaching move. There were plenty of golden points on the bench for both teams, but in the end it was a Brees and Lacy that handed the Rabbit the win. Green was shut out until Revis was injured, which allowed Green to finally score. That kid is good. Fred Jackson had another strong day, not bad old man.

Stainless Steelers 75
No Ordinary Rabbit 83

No Kicker Required. Saintly Brees chose to not use a K this week, a strategy that still resulted in a W! Phil Rivers is on a roll, owners have to be loving this season. Forsett is starting to get the touches in Baltimore, although he is not getting the goal line plays, he put up 15 strong points. The oldest TE in the league scores 18 points. When will someone tell him he is too old for this? On the other sideline, the Todd Squad got the "worst beat" for the week, losing by only one point, and a tie would have went his way with 63 points on the bench. It's going to be a tough choice each week between those two QBs. Jamaal, normally a strong play, only put up 8 in the Flex, but that was offset by a stellar day from Ellington who rolled up a lot of points against the Denver D. With Brandon hurt, Cutler has been throwing mostly Alshon's way (when he is not throwing to the opponents...) and Crabtree was held to only one point by the visiting KC team in a very hot SF. It all added up to one point too little, but there is still hope and a lot of coaching choices to come. Brees, watch your lineup - you had 9 points of K on the bench.

The Todd Squad 77
Saintly Brees 78

Near perfect coaching set the lineup of the week for the Jabronis, who put up 143! points, with the elder Manning humming the allstate tune to 37 points, and Demaryius Thomas catching a lot of those points. The duo scored enough to win a few of the other matches this week, but another Thomas, Maclin, 19 K points nad 12 from his D added up to a very nice week. The Daggers got stuck with the black unicorn scoring one point for each horn. Lord have Percy, who had a touch called back on a holding call and wound up with only 2 on the day. Matt Forte had 22 points, then lost a game losing fumble at the end of the game to give a point back, but still had a great day. DeMarco was ReMarc-able and Vincent JAckson also had a good day. There were some points on the bench, but it was not gonna happen against the Jabs this week, and he went to 5-0 and high scrore for the week.

The Dakota Daggers 88
Stoney's Jabronis 143

That puts week 5 in the books. Watch yer byes, and watch those lineups.

I received your fees, Marshall Mathers - so you are all paid up.

We are just waiting for the Daggers, but John knows where that rascal works :p

It is shaping up to be a good close league, all chasing the elder manning and company. Sure hope the old boy stays healthy for the Jabronis, but I don't think Mr Stone is worried.

We benched the K just before the Monday night game (when Hauschka was playing) with the score already in our favor at 78 - 77 and Todd Squad's players already done. A kicker can get negative points and we had the match sewed up, so no need to take a chance by playing him. The benching was intentional as I couldn't see a downside to playing it that way.

This is fun. Mike will just have to put up with me looking over his shoulder for the rest of the season. Haha.

He should be back this week as he is doing well. Surgery was not too bad. They found about 3" of nylon sutures from a gall bladder removal that he had done almost 30 years ago. It had been causing an infection and non-healing wound for several months. This should fix that problem.

Thanks for letting me play, guys.

Good call! I had a match one time where I should have put in the injured player and instead put in a scrub from the bench and got a negative 1!

Thanks SAndy - nice coaching there!

That sucks about the sutures from 30 years ago - sometimes I wonder about hospitals.....Glad he is going to be good, are you going to let him have the team back when he returns ?

;^)

Good strategy, I wouldn't have thought of it and would have lost I'm sure

:) you should have your own team not he league next year maybe?

Sure, but he is going to have to put up with me making some "suggestions" along the way. :D

Edit: P.s glad to have you back, Andy!

I will get the wrap up done tonight or tomorrow - been busy with a couple of projects.

Lowest score for the week was 80 points - so a pretty high scoring week!

Hi folks -

I apologize for my tardiness on getting this out this week.

How do you ensure your quarterback will score over 30 points? Put him on your bench of course. The Steelers benched Cam Newton just in time to see him put up 37 points. In fact, the Steelers bench scored 100 points, while the fielded lineup only mustered 80. I made all the wrong moves and was able to get the L from the Daggers, who had a nice week. The Daggers also sat a QB that had been lackluster only to see Brady score over 30 points. Go figure.

Luck has been on the Beavers side this year, and week six was no exception. Andrew put up 29 points to lead the team, with a very nice 21 points from Gio and 14 from McCoy who finally is starting to look like a top three draft choice. Kendall write put an egg on the board, but in the end the Beavers squeaked out the win over the Mathers. Foles had another down week and the Mathers lost their star running back for the season with an injury. It wasn't all bad news though, as Torrey Smith has a very nice day of it and the Mathers have one of the best scoring TE's this week.

Marshall Mathers 83
Bucky Beavers 91

In another close matchup, the Todd Squad edged out the Badgers even though a large part of the Squad was on byes this week. McKinnin and Ellington had good enough days, and even his backup TE did his part to some degree to add up to 92 points and a tight margin of victory of the Honey Badgers. The Badgers had good production from the Eagles D, and Tate went off for 19 points. Possibly the turning point was lack of production from Ryan, who could only muster 16 points against a stiff Bears defense. Atlanta is just not a very good team, unfortunately for Ryan and the Badgers. Maybe the badgers will do a double-check and see who else might be able to throw the ball on their team. ;^)

The Honey Badgers 85
The Todd Squad 92

We no longer have an undefeated team, as Mrs. Saintly Brees killed it this week and put up high score for the week and a hard earned 126 points!! Another solid day from Rivers, solid days from Forsett (who is showing himself as one of the better scoring RBs in the league) ad Smith from Atlanta, a career day from T.Y Hilton, Steve Smith continues to prove his worth in his old age, along with Gates in San Diego. The Jabroni's put up 107 in the loss, and the three players that stood out were ASiata, Madin and White who combined for only 6 points in helping the Jabronis post their first L. Very nice season starting run!

Stoney's Jabronis 107
Saintly Brees 126

In the nail biter of the week, the Jackhammer was handed a disappointing 1 point loss even though they put up an impressive 109 points! In the end it was just too much Flacco, rather unbelievably. Kaeper was awesome on MNF and ALMOST pulled it out for the Hammer. Arian Foster has looked great the last two weeks after a disappointing start. The hammer got a goose egg out of his TE, and only one point from his flex, who won't be cruzing again this season after an injury. The Lions D tried their best with 15 points. In the end, those Kwazy Wabbits put up 110 points with solid production through the lineup and the aforementioned unlikely day from Joe Flacco, who was only in because Brees was on a bye.

Jackhammer 109
No Ordinary Rabbit 110

Congrats to the winners - and us folks in the losers bracket, well we still have time......
