(JK Vermont Hunter) Merry Christmas to me! received a couple new JK's today.

Nice job, Todd!

Looks like a handle you could get a good grip on, and it looks good to boot!

i almost feel like i should apologize for my continued gushing. i just hope that you are like me and like to see pics of knives. :D

and speaking of which...have a knife for you! (too much?)

i discovered tonight that cutting the rind off a cantaloupe is a great test for a knife. i find that usually i have to push a knife through. and, that's the way it started with the VT Hunter. but, i was able to move towards the tip and ZIP! much better. it doesn't have quite enough length, but did surprisingly well.

i was originally questioning my decision of putting so much belly on the knife. but the sharp curve and the pointy tip really makes it a nice slicer (not to mention john's full height convex grind he put on this thing). note that the cut pieces haven't moved. the knife literally went through like there was nothing there.

i continue to be impressed. i have certainly found this is the knife i reach for. i have a feeling, a "garage sale" is coming. ;)

P.S. you can bet i am going to give the JK Ultralite Hunter the cantaloupe test too. bet it will do awesome.

as you were gentlemen.

I can't complain about people gushing I have a certain knife that still gets regular if not daily pictures taken of it, :p

I'm glad your happy Todd,

I'll be looking for that garage sale to :p I myself can't seem to stop, whether I'm satisfied with what I have or not :D

Never apologize for posting more pics! To me it`s flattering that you like it enough to keep using it and not toss it in a drawer

ok then. i have some more. some may have seen my perch picture. i grabbed a few knives to test cleaning the fish with (really, i was filleting). i fully expected the Endura 4 (that Sean gifted to me for Christmas) to be my new fishing knife. and, i also thought the Mora 511 (SS) would be a great fishing knife. i still love the Endura. I used it on the lake for utility chores. but, that Mora now will just be relegated to a bait knife.

Because, as it turns out, i preferred using the VT Hunter for filleting. that tip was awesome. now granted, it is not a fillet knife...but, it worked pretty good....surprisingly better than the others.

Looks like you had a good day on the ice. I was wondering how that Endura would work as a filet knife. The blade is fairly thin but I didn't think it really had the flex to filet efficiently.

Nice pics man :) looks like the patina is coming along quite nice! Really like this model.

ETA:
That LRK+ is sweet :)

the VT Hunter loves hanging out in the kitchen.

this thing takes (and holds) a keen edge.

yep, johns o1 does get a nice edge on it, wish i could to that to it :) nice looking pictures of you knife Tod, especially like the first one.

Haven't seen any pics of the VT Hunter lately, have you? Wellll...i can remedy that!

testing out some knives that a BF friend let me check out. so, brought the whole crew down to the river!

you know what?....you all know Hugh, so i'm gonna "call him out." here is a pic of my companions for the evening. the three knives on the right were ones that he lent out to me to test (fiddleback). thanks buddy!

i took a piece of driftwood to baton through. i wanted to make a spoon. this wood (not sure what it was) was not straight grained and it had a decent knot going through it. some of the other knives had a hard time with it. not the VT Hunter! notice the wedge i had to drive in up top. tough stuff, but i was impressed how well the VT Hunter did.

phew...done! take a look at that knot.

well said. and, i agree! thanks Andy. Hope you are well.

Excellent! I was wondering "who finished off" that piece of wood! That VT hunter is sweeeeet. I love the blade shape with the straight back. I bet that thing is good at everything. Looks like a killer steak knife as well! :)
