John White MS Memorial BEST BOWIE 2015 - FINALISTS SELECTED!

Here are some of my favorites of the year.

1. Russ Andrews

This was possibly the finest knife I saw this year.

Thanks to Roger and Russ for sending me this pic. I am also keeping the one I originally posted, below.

2. Steve Johnson

This is a totally mind-blowing integral Big Bear from AKI 2015, engraved by Barry Hands. Yes, you read that correctly. An integral Big Bear.

3. Bruce Bingenheimer

From earlier this year, for the Arkansas Show.

4. Roger Bergh

Another one from AKI 2015, and IMO the steal of the show from a value perspective.

I have a boatload of fantastic Bowies I have captured this year, which haven't been displayed. Yet.

It would be a disservice to the viewers here (and my clients) to let them go unseen!

This thread is: one part parade of Bowies, one part inspirations, and one part subjective judgements. All = admiration. It's a worthy and notable thread!

This will load up your browser. Stand ready.... :)

^^^ Love the lines on that Wetten piece Alex.

We tend to play it by ear with nominations - when they start to peter out, I'll give everyone a heads up to get any final entries in. Hopefully that's not real soon as wel need to see more bowies!

Ken, Coop - BRAVO gents!

Coop - the Andrews piece in Post 44 #4 has already been nominated.

The above are ones I didn't see posted yet. (PM me if I double posted.)

(My admission: I didn't include a BUNCH of RW Loveless style fighters which I have shot. My interpretation is they aren't so much a Bowie, as they are a newer-generation 'tactical' fixed blade.)

Thanks for the opportunity to show off these fine maker's works again!

Coop

I was quite taken by this beautiful creation from forum member MONTENEGRO.

Roger, thanks for posting my "Moran Tribute ST-24", much appreciated.

Fantastic entries, always look forward to this thread.

Please remember to number the knives when you post more than one, gents. It helps make the tabulation of votes SOOOOO much easier. :)

Mind blowing entries.

Maybe not the best bowie of the year, but it is my best bowie of 2015.

1) James Emmons, Damascus and Ironwood

300 layer ladder pattern blade measuring 10-1/2" from the guard. The guard, spacer, and butt cap are made from 416 stainless steel. I used 75 layer pattern weld steel for the fluted ferrule and finial nut. With the Desert Ironwood handle this knife measures 16-1/4" in overall length.

James Emmons

Thank you James - great to see an Ontario bowie in the mix!

I perceived something of a forum backlash against Brut-de-forge knives earlier this year and still don't get it. Below is an example of why I LOVE the genre.

1. White Tiger Knives Brut de Forge Bowie

2. Bill Buxton MS Stag Beauty

Such a classic combo, so expertly rendered:

Here's one more of mine I liked from this year.

#1: John Doyle 1075, damascus fittings, bronze spacer, stabilized koa.
