Josh has now paid for the item AGAIN forcing me to pay the return fee once again.
(Just spoke with Paypal and there isnt any charge for returning his money)
Paypal is going to suspend his account if he keeps paying me.

Josh is the definition of a hothead. He also has a VERY mixed reputation that is well earned. If a buyer responded to a simple question in the manner Josh did, I would probably cancel his bid too. If Josh really wanted the knife, he could have acted like a gentleman and answered the OPs question. Instead, he was rude and acted like a total jerk.

IMHO, Josh got what he deserved. He might not have the knife he wanted, but he is in position #12 on the whose who page of balisong.net.

OP - how come paypal charges you $17 for refunding?
They dont, I was wrong. I spoke to PayPal about PVK, and they will continue to refund his money if he tries again and suspend his account. Josh obviously keeps paying me for the item because he thinks I have to pay a fee each time I refund it. An Ebay Extortion case is now open as well.

Have you been to balisong.net? The only thing funnier than him using that as a reason to sell to him, is the quoted area under his name on that crap site. Read it...it's great for a laugh.

I think the real question is there anyone lower than #12...

seems it would have been easier to just let his winning bid stand. you asked he wanted it....my interpretation and logic would have said let his winning bid stand.

Not sure I get how this even happened. So a bid went up higher than you thought it should and you canceled on the winning bidder. You said you were concerned about being scammed, but one never ships before the buyer pays, so where would the problem arise? Where would the scam occur? If you were worried about him just not paying, that happens all the time. Unpaid item case gets opened, you wait the 4 days, it closes, you relist. You can even second chance offer the non winning bidder after the unpaid item case closes.

Sure, his reaction is wacky, but I think I'd be pissed if I won an auction and then I got canceled.

Maybe I’m not comprehending this cluster f@&k, but why would a dealer, Josh, pay $40 over the price of a readily available NEW knife, for a used one???
I might question his motives also. Especially since there are some very interesting threads here about his extremely weird behavior.
If what I am understanding is correct, a little civil communication with Brandon could have gone a long way to an amicable conclusion.
I say this because Brandon is a good dude to deal with. He reached out to me bout a year or so ago and offered me a brand new set of sharpening stones, for free. Wouldn’t even let me pay for shipping.
A guy like that isn’t looking to screw over anyone.
Joe

His responses to your emails are idiotic and unhinged at best; even for someone who is #12 on some random website.

I understand your concern, but if he wanted to overpay, I would have let him.

Based on his behavior after your initial contact, I wouldn't agree to sell him anything.

Let PayPal take care of it and move on.

Thanks Joe for the kind words, I forgot about that...and who I sent them to. hope they still work for you!

My pleasure Brandon!! I’ll never forget that!! And once again, thank you my friend.
I’ll also never forget what Josh was like on the phone with me. Very different kinda dude!

No personal knowledge whatsoever, but to answer the question. Buy; pay; claim the box arrived empty or with something other than the item purchased; contest payment with you credit card company and, typically, win. This has been claimed to have been done to sellers numerous times here.

Yup, sellers get the short end of the stick every time...Ebay and Paypal always protect the buyer first and do so very swiftly.
As a seller your not only out the item you sent, but have to refund the total back as well. Double whammy. Paypal does it even without warning.

Cancelling the winning bid isn't very cool, but it isn't the end of the bloody world. Josh's response is proof you clearly dodged a bullet there. Yeah, crappy stuff happens, he should have won the item. Pout a minute, then move on. I've missed some deals here, and I don't fly off the handle because of it.

Dude is clearly a petulant spoiled little something other. Good job outing him for the unhinged individual he is. I wouldn't be aware of him otherwise, and may have made the mistake of dealing with him.

My issue with this thread is that it’s calling out a person BEFORE there was an issue. The auction ended with a person winning, and the person promptly paid. It was now up to the OP to send the knife. No issue to speak of until the OP canceled the transaction. As a buyer, I’d take issue with that.

Even though the OP has a good reputation and is well liked, I think that going back on his word, and reneging on the deal, puts him in controversial territory.
I’m old school, but I believe that part of maintaining a stellar reputation, also includes being true to your word, and following through with your half of the deal.
Since nobody has proven that this Josh person is scamming nor stealing from people, and the fact that he has maintained a long standing business, should earn him enough confidence, for a guy to conclude a simple transaction with him, like an Ebay auction.
I also get annoyed with rude people, but I’ve always given them equal respect in business deals, while my competition avoided them. I made a lot of good business with some very temperamental people, by not being overly judgmental.
