So the “buyer” is being labeled in this thread (and title) as bad by the “seller”, when the “buyer” did nothing wrong. Complaining that the deal was broken is not wrong. He didn’t lie, cheat, steal, etc.

Ok......

If the seller wanted to back out on the deal, that’s his business and was allowed by eBay’s rules to do just that. But then to go around the internet and badmouth the other party?? That’s completely unwarranted in my opinion. How can the OP call the other guy “bad” when he was the one to cancel the deal? If no deal happened, where’s the truth in saying he’s bad??

You know now that I read your comment, why is this thread even here? No transaction was made, OP seems to indicate that no poor feedback was left... so where's the wrong? Is it because he was angry he got shut down?

Exactly

OP, you are expending way too much effort to justify what you did. I think it is of poor taste for you to label the buyer as bad on this site here for something that you did wrong to him on eBay. yeah the buyer got whacky on you but why? Your example of the gold coin is equally bogus. EBay is not bladeforums. It's not right for you to think that after the auction ends you can change things to suit you and now proceed to subject the winning bidder to your #radar#. Any way done here.

I see my personal name attached to PVK here in a mostly negative thread started by the alleged seller of an item I allegedly won fair and square in an auction on the ebay.com website where the seller spitefully reneged on the deal it would appear due largely to an opinion formed after reading a negative post on this same site. Is that correct? Seems off though if the buyer had 4 times the positive feedbacks of the seller's 500ish.

At face value I would say that this violated the user policy at ebay where one user (seller in this case) publishes the personal information of a buyer in a public access web forum for the world to see. Beyond the policy on ebay regarding that it seems like common sense that you would put yourself in a bad moral and/or legal position as a vendor to take a client's information and post it on the web. Albeit you perhaps felt justified in doing it because someone else had done it. She's a slut let's rape her who cares?-must be the mentality behind that one.

Here's the link to that publishing user information policy https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/...olicy&intent=contact user&context=9028_SELLER

That above would just cover the policy violations of refusing to do business based on prejudice (some crap read somewhere on the web) and not the actual ebay site feedback, again at 4 times the seller's own rating.

Just the facts.

Then there's the slander. This forum was built so that buyers could warn other potential buyers about companies that gave bad service and there are many sites on the web that also offer that service as well as the opposite where sellers are rated positively rated. This forum site section good bad ugly seems to cater to both sides of the spectrum.

Can we set up a site where retailers can post people's private information and transactions then slander them? Not at all. That would be a huge liability for the site host, the site and the business that posted on it. When you sell something it doesn't matter if you sell it above at or below cost - private party or corporation - you have an obligation to respect someone's right to privacy and probably not slander them. Many businesses sell below cost at times. THey would be expected to treat that client with respect. The web is not a swap meet where you throw down cash pick up the item and walk away. You get people's private information it's the only way you can transact.

What happens though when someone rips you off as a business or a guy trying to sell something (yes guy selling something you're still expected to be a professional and execute the transaction as a business) in the case you get ripped off are all bets off and you can trash away? It's a matter the courts have dealt with many times. You have to know you're in the right is what it all comes down to. Accuse someone of shoplifting and you're wrong? 50k settlement right there.

So just in very long winded sum 3rd person it would seem that on the seller's part there's an admission of breach of legal and binding auction result, an accusation of unjustified upsetness followed by the extremely inappropriate disclosure of a buyers private information and enough slander on the part of the seller mixed into that to push this thread and forum right off the edge of being the web's #1 site for intelligent knife discussion... Into the realm of... You can make that up I am out.

Take the high road always.

So you own a fancy knife store and you’re a lawyer?

Impressive

If eBay didn't want to allow sellers to cancel completed auctions, or to choose to sell to someone other than the winning highest bidder, they wouldn't allow it. How can it be a violation of policy if they offer this option?

Joshua, the seller didn't want to sell to you. eBay allowed him to choose to sell to another person. "Right" or "wrong" is question of ethics, not laws or policies. Walk away and move on.

We are a society full of laws and policies, many of which are unenforceable, especially if we don’t implement them in an ethical and socially appropriate manner.

I know he should walk away and move on, but I’m really hoping he doesn’t.......the popcorn is popping!!

Without the contribution of a bunch more angry threats and follow up trash talk, this thread may not develop into a big popcorn nibbling drama.
Anyway Joe, I hope that you are using real butter with your popcorn, that oil crap that they offer us at the movies, is bad for your health!

I am frequently amazed at the time and effort (supposed) adults will spend dwelling on things like this. I truly hope that this "problem/situation" is the worst thing these people have to deal with. ;) Please, "let it go" you could have MUCH more serious things happen, be grateful.

I asked what the hell that stuff was once and couldn’t get a straight answer.....kinda scary!

I am sure you know which transaction this is about. I think it would be more useful to this thread if you just stated your case. Such as that you won the auction, why you paid an excessive price(or maybe not in your opinion), and how the cancellation affected you and anything you want to say about your reputation and completing deals.
I can't see you were at fault for anything you did on this deal, but other ?'s about you have been brought up and you may want to address them-that is up to you, but if you don't they will likely stand.

Since you are new here you may not be aware that there are other PVK threads that you may care to read. Just do a search PVK from this forum.

J Joshua Burbank , just report this thread to the mods and they might help you get it removed since it really doesn’t make sense. No good deal happened, no bad deal happened, not sure why a thread calling you out is being allowed.

@Boru13, what is your take on it?

Good points, but the thread is referencing a dealer who has been exhibiting some interesting behavior.
Not sure a deal had to happen for the thread to be relevant.
