July 14, 2022 botm 119 full flat grind

The knife is 1 of 750 made. Each COA card will have the same exact text. There is no "2 of 750".

I thought it was like Number 1 of 750. Some limited edition products with Certificates of Authenticity have specific production numbers printed on them, there have even been some knives with laser engravings of the production numbers as well.

Mine showed today. No fit or finish issues but it might be the dullest factory new Buck I’ve ever gotten. I want to like it, maybe it will grow on me over time. I can’t post photos either, get the dreaded red x’ s.

Super nice. The red micarta is a deep red and the flat grind is really nice. It looks kinda weird at first, with no groove and the "satiny-ness" of the steel, but you get used to it quickly. Really wish I could grab another, because it would make a really nice camp/ backpacking knife. I'll post pics another time because the weather here is poor.

On another note, the box was damaged. It looks like it happened in the possession of the postal service. The Shipping box had a corner that was crushed and the tamper tape had ripped. One of the square end sides of the black box inside had blown out and was torn. 😕 Not sure that a thicker box would have done anything.... looks like it got punted to the back of a trailer truck.

i would contact warranty and show them those pictures....even though the brown box is smashed i would not think the knife should blow out the end on the black box unless it did not have enuff packing in it-and i have seen that.... i would think they should send you a new black box...

I’ve only had one FFG BUCK. It was an exclusive and it had terrible grind lines across the blade. I hope these are much better. These look like nice slicers, but I wish the grind line wasn’t curved.

EDIT - I move this topic to it's own thread as it deals with all of the BOTM's, not just the July issue.

Should the COA for the Buck Of the Month say "750 made, plus Overruns and Factory Blemished" ?

I am quite satisfied with my new arrival. The edge didn't feel quite right at first but a quick stropping solved that.

jbmonkey jbmonkey is correct in that there is slightly less steel and I'm assuming that is due to the amount of material removed to create the flat grind. It changed the balance point every so slightly which for me now rests firmly in the center of the index finger groove.

It was a tad expensive for a 119 but it's my first without the Fuller, red and includes some premium steel. I'm glad that I took the plunge.

awesome set there Jeff....

I like the knife, but I just think that $200 price point your into the buck custom shop 119 territory now…so I ask myself, maybe I should just get a custom no fuller 119 knife instead ….with the black palmwood I like so much better over micarter…and forget the flatgrind thing.

2 and a half tanks of diesel fuel a week is a perfect cure for having $200 burning a hole on your pocket.
Consider yourself blessed! Out here in Calif. $200 will fill my tank with gas AND out here gas is cheaper than Diesel fuel.

Oh, I'm not complaining, too much.
I know there are folks that have it worse off.
I'm fortunate enough to be healthy and have the means to do it and make it to work.
But it has put a damper on the ole knife budget.

And there's no charging outlet for your electric car on a building under construction ☺️.
