June Rendezvous?

Thanks Gary it's pretty cool but short lived :( as I just picked up a #38 Bloodwood off the forums which is a larger version of this rascal and as one fellow at the GEC Rendezvous said 'it's pretty small' and he was right, very well built but small so she's up on deck in the sales area now.

I've never seen Waterfall Micarta!! Looks great!! Is it lively??

I hope the picnic had good weather!! The online report said Sunshine at this time!!
I miss those picnics - a nice wrap up for a great weekend!!!
Pics please!!?? (I Hope!!)
Charlie, the weather was perfect; not too hot. Sunny and perfect. The crowd was similar to what you have seen in the past. I don’t have any pictures right now but I will ask my bro-in-laws if they took any.

Thanks. I’m not sure what lively means. Here is a closeup picture. Bill said he found some of this Micarta in the shop recently, but was not sure where it came from. He did say he wished he had a lot more. Perhaps it was a sample that was given to them.

Waterfall (old celluloid style) had lots of chatoyance - danced in the light; like looking into a waterfall!!:)
P.S. it looks great!!

Unfortunately I missed it having left the factory for an attempt for some precious sleep. Those beds at the resort have not improved Im afraid. I woke up in time but hesitated on attempting the drive to Mystic by myself and didnt check with Steve or Travis if they were still at the resort.

It is always a tough decision deciding on going to the rendezvous or not. I am not a fan of driving tbh and its been 3 years since I drove anywhere. But I am always glad I went. I started the trip in decent weather but pulled into Cross Creek in a downpour only to find out the dining had closed at 7:30 when the golfers left.

Stopped by on Thursday to see every one and say hello before the Festivities began

This was a beautiful sight captured during post dinner hangout on Friday. I napped in a bit but still ate while Rusty1 Rusty1 kept me company.

Due to covid and the golfers reservations. Usually post picnic, we gather for one more fun bit but sadly no closing group dinner this time as the picnic was set for dinner and not lunch hours. Of course no wild post dinner karoke this time although the event was held on Friday evening.

:(

And of course, the close out breakfast before driving back. A meal usually had with waynorth waynorth depending on what time I wake up.

Unfortunately, Charlie was not able to attend like usual.

And now the loot. With my safe return home despite some gps goof ups, this is my haul

Starting from the left, day one was a 15 in od green and a 33 in candy apple red. Knife thoughts logan stout helped with the red bull buster. I didnt want to wait on line from thursday night with everyone which going by the pictures was wild. I had sacrificed a considerably nice spot in line since I was very early on thursday. Tried to get some sleep but that didn't work out like I thought. Also got to meet Gary W. Graley Gary W. Graley who gave me this neat keychain lanyard fob after a neat knife discussion! Whats funny is, I did not have my glasses, so when Gary W. Graley Gary W. Graley got out of his car, I thought it was waynorth waynorth sneaking in but shaved his mustache. Faraway I mistook him, but I later found out who it actually was 😆 Also finally got to meet knifeswapper knifeswapper and shake his hand for how he attempts to make his reserve process as fair as possible. Had quite a nice time talking to Mike.

So, friday night, I attempted to cut the drinking out earlier hoping for sleep but to no avail. Wolfsschanze Wolfsschanze Rusty1 Rusty1 Travman Travman and Co (Nathan and Mike) tore up the bar for a bit. Augie Augie and his wife donna, Theapostlep, knifeswapper knifeswapper , William Howard, the guys from Kniveshipfree, and a few others were in attendance as well. I set an alarm for 4am but due to getting lost because it was pitch black, I ended up at the factory around 5. My spot got me two patterns I liked but not the prizes I sought. However, Randy Bell of GEC saw how I was a bit disappointed, he traded me his smooth white bone TC for my 86 snakeskin 86. Bill was already telling me the fellas were kidding that I'd have the secondary blade deleted before I left the rendezvous. I said to Bill maybe I can have it actually arranged because J jsdistin was in attendance! Its funny, I almost bought nothing the first day, didnt want to leave the shop empty handed though. And the second day I also made the best of it but Randy fixed that. Although the knives are fun to have, its really the people I come for. It was good to see all those already mentioned but not to forget Dr-Mabuse Dr-Mabuse , Jesse and his fiance Kim, Jack Wolf Knives Jack Wolf Knives , warrenwrench warrenwrench late brief arrival of N N.E.Tim and his wife, the folks from the facebook knife groups who may also be on here, the dealers Ken Mundhenk , the other Ken, Tom and his wife Linda, the GEC family, the staff at the Resort for making the Rendezvous an event to attend! waynorth waynorth and his wife Joann , wlfryjr wlfryjr and his wife Jan , Old Engineer Old Engineer and his wife Nancy, Half/Stop Half/Stop and his wife Pam, ea42 ea42 folks asked about ya and missed ya! Hope y'all make the next one! It was good to see all of you and I hope to see y'all again. Take care, until our next meeting 👍
