Just a Walk in the Snark

Actually, I added some worcestershire after I posted that. I'm thinking that I shoulda used the IPA in my fridge instead of BL. I'll get it right one of these times.

CB, actually posted a recipe in food & drink once, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for. It had sausage in it if I remember. Theres a restaurant in town that makes some awesome bc soup, but I never did get the recipe out of them. I know they use cheese whiz.

I had a campfire tonight in the backyard. Got to use my 16 for a few hours. This knife gets better and better for me.

Added a firesteel holder to my sheath outta some 3" webbing I just got in. Seems to work pretty well.

Also added shock cord lanyards to each.

Nice work. Looks like your BK16 package is coming together nicely. BTW that's the most massive fire steel I have ever seen. I surmise it's for giant woodsman synthesizing lightening on mountaintops?

More like for people that suck starting fires with firesteels and need to have a lot of firesteel, cause it usually takes a bit to make it work.

I'm really diggin' those 16's.
Oh wait, I have a 17!! WOO!!
The day after I got back with my 17 I had to run outta town for work. Got back last night.
Where is my new precious??

YAY!!

That was my first thought for a firesteel holder when I did my BK2 sheath mod. I was concerned about it retaining moisture though. Does a firesteel even rust? Not sure, but that's why I went the other route, using the cable clamps instead.

Nope. Well, none of mine have at least. Might differ from company to company, but I don't think they do.

I actually haven't ever started a fire with only a fire steel before. I bought myself a tiny one with an orange handle at a camp supply store but it doesn't seem to do much for me. My goal after I get done working today is to learn. I'm entering that contest moose posted so I've got a little motivation

I've never personally seen rust on one, but I just Googled it, and apparently it does happen.

Derek, I like the work you been putting out. It always looks very good. You seem to put a lot of thought into your work, like you take pride in it. It's GOOD!

I'm getting my first Busse this weekend. I'm branching out and upgrading. I used to be a kershaw/crkt man. Now I'm a Becker/Esee guy and throwing in some bussekin as well!

I do still love me some Kershaw though.

I've been peeking in over at the Busse corner of BF lately and my eyes have slowly been warming up to some of their designs (ok I'll be honest I just want the knife from the walking dead!). The only thing I can't get used to is the names. Just out of curiosity what is the name of the knife your getting chameleonbear?

What size is that firesteel, Derek? I've got a few small ones and they work, but I can't seem to get a good enough grip on them to use more then half the length.

That is the firesteel.com (not advertising, that is simply the name of the company) Bunker model, which is 5" long by .5" thick. I got my first one off Amazon, no idea where they got me this one. It comes with one of the "super strikers" that are out, way better than the stamped metal stuff that comes with the LMF ones.

I was talking to a user on another forum about knives because that forum is knife retarded and he was the only one showing knife knowledge. He then proceeded to say this about his 9 dollar knife: "Also, this thing is really good for throwing. My KA-BAR is made of a type of steel that doesn't bend; it just breaks."

I'm just... I'm just raging so hard.

Got my 560 in this week. Decided I don't like it. Utterly inappropriate placement of jimping (right below the flipper, so it keeps biting me when I try to flip the blade out), and tip-up clip got me--tried sticking it in my pocket, and somehow the knife opened slightly. Stabbed me in the hand next time I went to reach for it. ZT 560, you are not my friend. On the upside, the custom DDR Trigger Maze I also got in, along with my new BK5, are both utterly satisfactory.

The 560 doesn't have the 4 way pocket clip option like a 301?
