Just bought my last benchmade.

Benchmade factory was sold out. Found the only shop in town that had one. .only one.

You mean Sportsman’s on 82nd, near Johnson Creek blvd? They had one in the case last week, at least.

Ultimately, it’s your money to spend as you see fit. If you don’t want to buy Benchmade anymore, don’t. Buy what makes you happy.

Whatever you decide to do, I hope you find a happy ending.

All my axis locks have had the tendency to want to loosen over time that i always felt the need to use loctite. I’ve never wanted to loosen one on purpose

I have been lurking for a long time. I have no tendencies to troll any forum that I post in. I am simply saying that after spending as much money as I have with benchmade, it would be nice to not rely on their warranty 30 days within ownership.

Sometimes that's the way the cookie crumbles. The way to look at a warranty is "you need it when you need it". Could be right outta the gate, could be ten years down the road.

I know it sucks to get a knife out of the box with problems, but you should've caught that at the counter and not bought it...

As for it not working as well as the CRKT, that happens too. Any given Sunday principle. Anybody can get it right, and anybody can get it wrong too. It's worse when the product was expensive.

Since you live close to the factory, take it in and express how dissatisfied you are. See if they fix it.

I'm not even suggesting that the crkt is in the same ballpark as a benchmade. I have a soft spot for every one of the benchmade products I own, mostly because I had to save up for most of them, and I have picked each one of them out based on my personal preferences. Again I bought the

That is where I purchased it.

Benchmade is very hot or cold for a lot of guys here. Seriously, look at some of the older threads in the Benchmade forum, it’ll paint a very clear picture of that.

On another note, have you tried a Spyderco yet? For my 100-200 range it’s my go to brand.

I've had bad experiences with them recently too. I'm done with Benchmade. 940 with a terrible tight gritty action , another with metal shavings or something under the stop pin so it didn't sit flush against the frame, both had pocket clips loose or miss aligned, and my Infidel had the clip screw holes drilled unevenly so the clip was off center. Small problems but when paying 2-400$ for a knife it should be perfect and I shouldn't have to turn around and send it right back to Benchmade regardless of how good their warranty is.

To expand on my last post, that's why I bought the 756... a goofy little knife that to me has no real purpose other than a quirky addition to my collection.

Why is it these posts Always seem to come from LONG TIME LURKERS with under 15 posts? OP did you order it online instead of handling one in a brick and mortar store? if so why? I'm trying to feel for you and your possible BM QC issues but my :poop: detector keeps going off. A couple of pics might help prove your validity;) Morons like me who can't read like to look at pictures. Until then I'm out of here...............

It's ironic but before I started collecting Spyderco's I collected CRKT. It's not a huge collection by any means but decent. Well only last week I was in my local dept store and they had CRKT's on sale! Well I ended up buying a M-16 for only $29 cad ($21 US) which was regularly $60 CAD ($45 US) but I remember when these were $80 Cad ($60 US) so I just couldn't say no!

The knife was so cheap I didn't even bother checking it out, and that was a mistake. It's the worst opening and closing CRKTI have, and maybe they worst opening flip knife I have ever owned. It loses it's blade centering almost instantly if I try to loosen the pivot.
Tl;DR
The moral of the story is no matter what knife brand you buy if you don't do your do diligence and test the knife before you buy you might end up getting a dud. No manufacturer is immune for mishaps or things "built on a friday". One of the reasons you spend the extra cash on a knife like a Benchmade is their warranty gives them an excellent rep. So why not use it?

Stuff happens. No company is perfect. Including Benchmade. Give them a chance to correct their screw up. In a perfect world you should not have to send it back, I get that. But, this is not a perfect world.

My wife recently came home with a new a sedan costing thousands more than your $300 knife and we are in debt for the next six years. One of the seat belts was installed backwards. You don't see me whining about it online, do you? No, you don't. If the dealer does not fix it, then I will b*tch, moan, and complain all over the place but, not before I give them the chance.

Return the knife if your not happy. Or, let Benchmade fix it. Then, and only then, snivel, if you must.

To be honest with you, maybe that's one of the reasons when I am ready to buy a benchmade that is difficult to find, I am willing to forget that the blade isn't centered, or the lock feels like shit because hey they are right up the road. Then you buy a knife that is perfect right out the box... not really talking about the crkt...more the southern grind quill...its absolutely fantastic. You start to wonder if I am only buying this product because the warranty is so awesome, knowing full well I am probably going to be relying on that warranty?

My wife just bought a Subaru ascent. 49 grand. Your apples to oranges comparison is funny. If you bought 10 vehicles from that manufacturer and each one had a problem...then it would make sense. But yeah.

You live 20min. from them and you spend 2hrs complaining about them. Whats the problem, go get the damn thing fixed .
You are missing the point. Yes I will take it to benchmade to get it fixed. I am tired of taking things to benchmade to get fixed. That's my whole point. From the Bali I bought, to the flipper, to the anthem if I cant stand the blade centering, to the ti... they all need service.

Then move on .Theres only about 500 or more choices. They will take your money . I think your missing the point ,stop piss and moaning, move on.

Don't all knives need loctite eventually?

I will agree with that to a point. I have had knives of all kinds that eventually moved towards loosening. But not all and never as quick and assuredly as a benchmade axis

I have sent many a blade back to benchmade for tweaks. Living so close to them, I felt it was worth it to hand deliver a product to have it repaired, didn't have to worry about shipping it, etc. Then I realized almost every knife I have purchased from them has had some issue of some sort, other than the mini infidel or the emissary. When you buy a 300 dollar ti monolock and a 30 dollar pilar within the same week and the cheaper of the knives feels better, weight not counting....it really opens your eyes.

Are you talking about lockstick? As in the knife resists unlocking?

Yes... I am more than willing to give A knife time to break in...I have had to break in other knives, but this is different. Just doesnt feel right at all.

Wife's last car was a Forester. I liked that car. Hated to see it go away. Can't help but feel that she took a step backwards with her new KIA. It handles nice but I don't think it is the car that Subaru is. But, it's her car. She has to drive it. Not me. I'll stick with my old Jeep Cherokee and BMW motorcycle.
