Just Need Maybe Design Tips

I also would not harden it past Rc 45. That will avoid breaking it in survival use as well as simplify sharpening.

Peter is from Canada, so we have to understand that they don't get whistles and bells like those south of the 54th. Actually, he has a great idea, If you make it with a hollow handle you can make the handle have a whistle in the butt. That way when signaling rescuers, they can hear you whistling out your butt.

Hey... Peter moved to Canada after he was all growed up. It's not our fault... though, for some reason I still feel the need to say "sorry".

How about a compartment in the blade for a SPAM can? Maybe inside a giant jimp.

Warning from Moderator -

Some of these suggestions are just silly. If this thread continues to go off topic all week long, I will close it Friday.

In my opinion you're better off carrying 2 knives. Depending what situation I'm in I Carry or try
To carry the right tools for the job. don't get me wrong , I have bigger knives but don't use them to fell threes. You're far better or to Carry a small bow saw if you're in foot.I use my big knife to limb branches off of threes to feed our kelly kettle , to chop and dig through Ice , beat and clean the ice out of the slide and track of snowmobile etc. I also carry a small clip point knife I made for general chores or a boning knife (yes ... I love my boning knife lol). I can't imagine dressing and skinning a squirrel with a machete. So I would keep you're design simple for the larger knife. If you're on a snowmobile
Or quad I highly suggest a 3.5 lb double bit axe for felling there's not a knife.

Why a bottle opener was not mentioned yet?

Pablo

I have decided to incorporate some of ya'lls suggestions, and I thank you for them.

The picture below is a bit out of focus, but here are some notes:

Blood groove is essential for proper channeling of blood, in CQC situations. Thanks for that suggestion.

Thumb ramp insures proper ramping of thumb.

More jimping will be added.

With some small tweaks, I will incorporate a bottle opener, sushi blade, and karambit, all of which will fold into/out of the handle. That's right, this will be a "hybrid" knife: fixed blade, yet also with fold-out bottle opener, sushi blade, and karambit.

Still very pointy, for cleaning chipmunks, yet .250" thick for chopping down old growth oak trees. I don't know what some of you mean, when you say "different knife for different tasks." PLEASE! I have heard that before, and I recognize it for what it is: it's just an excuse for knife-makers to be lazy!!!!

There is something about this little knife making project of mine; I'm not sure what it is, but I keep thinking it would have been better to wait and post it this coming Friday. I believe I also said that in my original post.

Thank you. That is an excellent idea. I am glad there are people in this thread who understand what I am trying to accomplish.

I would make the handle hollow....you know to boil and carry water in, almost Canteenish ....water is VERY important to survival.

A gut hook would add to the ability to skin chipmunks. And you got an inch of free space (read WASTED SPACE) by the tip

Oh and of course the gut hook will double as a belt cutter if you have to free yourself from the aircrafts' safety belts!

^ yeah, it needs more cowbell.

Nathan your right more cowbell, I just can't seem to hear it. lol

You can never have enough cowbell.

Squid, I'm thinking you could spring load the file into the handle. Could come in handy.

Stacy is right, I'm beginning to think that some of you aren't taking this seriously.
