Just ordered a Ganzo g710

Stealing from an a-hole is still stealing

I get your point and you are 100% correct. However, if someone is of the mindset not to support Mick because of the Stolen Valor thing....Just sayin.

I guess I am stirring the pot, right?

Never mind.:o

Come to think of it, this might be a loophole that might be deemed worthy of looking into.

Not that I condone the purchase of clones overall, but if it is a strider and does a disservice to the inventor of that knife, would that be a bad thing?

*Only speaking of Strider in particular*

Well, I agree :D

Hi everyone I just ordered a ganzo g710. Its a great looking knife and got excellent reviews. Does anyone up here have one? Do they cut stuff well?

Hey Chain Dragger... welcome to the forum brother...

Unlike alot of the higher than thou zealots here I remember what it was like jumping into my first few purchases. First off congratulations, while NOT a benchmade you'll likely buy one shortly after falling in love with the knife you did purchase which is in point of fact, a benchmade 950 copy. The rift copy Ganzo makes is actually an excellent knife in my experiences with it.. The blade edge factory wasn't hair popping sharp but it'll get you plenty of bang for your buck! When you dig the Ganzo you'll surely upgrade to a legitimate Benchmade in the future.. You may not be too familiarized with it yet but blade steels are SUPER different and a "knife is a knife" is far from the truth.. I could take one of my knives now and legitimately make cuts into your blade without damaging mine.. Its still mind blowing. Lockup and corrosion are also going to be things you'll quickly learn are very different. In any event, enjoy... there are plenty of very knowledgeable people here, even if they are rough around the edges.

Sorry for some of the fear mongers here, they walk on water alot. Enjoy your knife bro and tell us what YOU think!

Again with the insults....

Fear mongers? Nope, just repeating the opinion of this forum.

I think ChainDragger bailed a long time ago but thanks for sharing you're viewpoint. It's still all yours, even when wrong. Aren't opinions an awesome thing!

Wish I could afford a real Benchmade knife,
Maybe someday when the mortgage is paid off.
But for now the Ganzo g710 just fine for me.

What you guys don't get because you are in desperate need of some humble pie is simple:
This dude is new, he doesn't know all about these things yet and blasting someone right off the rip it doesn't help. Humble pie... try some.

You should re-read the thread again, this time with heightened comprehension. Nobody was blasting the OP. We have cricized the defense of clones and counterfeits, which the OP did not do. Go back and check facts before you serve up so much pie. I'd hate to see you run out of pie.

Every single post he's made is pushing Ganzo knives and almost all of his posts contain links to unapproved vendors for sales of Ganzo knives. He's a marketer, there are tons on every forum out there these days some are more subtle than others. I'd bet he's affiliated with whatever site he's linking.

Your words in this thread are admirable (even if a little self-righteous) but misguided, this isn't some new guy trying to be part of the community. Just go read the rest of his posts it's plain as day.

The Ganzo shil is the guy who resurrected this thread, not the OP...I think...

There are many, many, many different brand and knife options out there to choose from that are original. Kershaw, Ontario, Spyderco and their Bryd line just to name a few.

If actually read the first page of the thread you'll see the vast majority of comments are welcoming the OP, explaining the issues with the company and suggesting reputable alternatives. Perhaps you should have a slice of your own pie, hmm?

Read the entire thread before you respond. It helps. A lot. Also, he was new 2 months ago when he posted the OP you responded to.

This. The only excuse to buying a counterfeit or knock off is not knowing any better, and there is nothing wrong with that. That is why it is important for people to come here and learn why supporting such activities hurts legit companies, this hobby, and this community. Further, with so many great budget options there is no need to support this stuff.

It's been said before, but always bears repeating...
It's your money to spend as you see fit.

If you are happy with buying counterfeits and knockoffs, good for you.
If you come on the forums singing the praises of said knives, you'll be made aware of the opinions that most of us have towards them. Usually in a pretty polite way.
Unless your a shill or troll. Then you get flamed.

And you WILL deserve it.

Greetings,

I generally avoid these types of discussions, I'll probably regret chiming in on this one, but... damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead.

First and Foremost, as someone who's actually handled a Ganzo or two, I can tell you they're far from being junk. From a purely fit/finish/materials standpoint, their value is quite high. Whatever steel they're using in their blades (440 or otherwise), works quite well for the price point. A reprofiled Ganzo that would cleanly cut paper then cut about 25 ft. worth of cardboard, multiple plastic water bottles, and then was stabbed multiple times into wood, remained quite sharp afterward (maybe 95% as sharp as before). Is it 3V? Nope, but its hardly junko 'Surgical Stainless steel' either.

If you want to not purchase them on principle, I can totally understand and appreciate that. But they certainly aren't garbage either.

Here's a scenario: Take a knife owner/user. She/he goes out and builds a nice little collection...buys some nice Benchmades, Spydercos, ZT's, maybe even a CRK, Strider, Hinderer to top things off. Buys them all from reputable dealers, pays full price, tax, shipping, etc. For giggles, let's say they bought 7 of these. She/he is like 'Man, these are great knives! Love 'em! I'm going to pass these on to my kids someday!' Awesome, right.

Now, she/he happens to work in a very rough profession...concrete/construction/mechanics/maritime whatever, and he doesn't want to watch his $300 Strider or $100 Benchmade bounce across the deck or go 'splash' in deep blue water or get ground up working around rebar. He really likes his 'nice' knives, and while he uses them, he doesn't want to beat the living snot out of them at work.

So she/he goes looking for an inexpensive, quality replacement knife. Maybe she/he stumble across the Ganzo line, and one of their offerings fits his/her needs very, very well...better than the made in foreign country X, 'legit' cheap brand and their oval 'not a Spydie-hole' opening system that they might attach a 'not an Wave' zip-tie too. So they buy the Ganzo/etc. knife, their 8th, as a disposable/beater/work knife that if it goes snap or 'splash,' they're only out ~$25.

Keep in mind, they've spend hundreds, maybe 4-figures, buying on their 7 'nice' knives from legit dealers. Fully supported those manufacturers through their purchases.

Does buying that 8th beater knife from a maker like Ganzo make them a bad person?

Just some random thoughts. As I say, if you want to abstain from buying something like Ganzo on principle, totally cool with that. Just posing some 'Devil's Advocate' thoughts...

Cheers,
BOSS

Stop defending a company that copies designs based on other knives for their own profits. doesnt matter how good that one person might say they are in their perspective.

There are plenty of other brands that DONT copy to choose from.
