I don't have a dog in this fight, but it does lead me to make a comment....
I bought (not really on purpose, but that's a long story) a Kershaw "Half-Ton" a while back for about $15. I naturally had very low expectations. I expected to put it on a shelf and save it as a "give away" knife.
Well, I was floored. The blade grind, fit, finish, lock-up and apparent quality was easily up there with a lot of MUCH more expensive knives. I had also just purchased an Emerson Commander. The $15 Kershaw had a smoother pivot and a better lock-up.

I'm not saying I prefer the Kershaw to the Commander, but I don't want to give this thing away!
Anyway, the first thing that came to mind as I marvelled over the knife was, how could this knife be so nice for $15? [Not only how could it be so nice, but how could you make ANY product like this in China, package it, ship it half way around the world, distribute it to dealers (who will share the profit) sell it for fifteen bucks and still make money?]
I'm amazed that domestic knife companies are able to compete. But they do! It's a tough battle, but they're tougher!
And as a tribute to the US knife makers, I bought two new Lone Wolfs today (and take delivery of my very first Randall tomorrow!).
Stay sharp,
