Kabars Space Force Knife

Whelp, I have all three of these Space Force items on the way, thanks to my awesome wife. She thought they'd be hilarious, and was happy at how excited I was. I mean, let's not kid ourselves, the premise is a bit silly, but don't we need some of that right now? I personally love how that "bridge breacher" ad is basically a dude in ski gloves trying to pry the lid off a tanning bed.

Not a cadet, but I did transfer over to Space Force in September. It would seem they are going with calling us "Guardians". I guess it could be worse :p

I did pick up one of the folding knives from Kabar because it was listed as being US made on BladeHQ but I am finding other sites are saying it is made in Taiwan. We will see when it arrives.View attachment 1477431
Eyes up, Guardian.

You know we need pics when they get here!

Absolutely. I'm super stoked, if I'm being honest. Even just from an aesthetic standpoint, that light grey and powder blue is going to look amazing. And well, I like the idea of a Space Force because because it brings us one sliver closer to having actual Space Marines one day! LOL

Have fun and be safe!

If you mean the blade doesn't have the same centerline as the handle, yes.

This is crazy to me. I even use to own one but gave it to my father and somehow didn't notice. This is like when I found out the Tool album Ænima and song Ænema were not spelled the same after listening to it for 20 years. I just had my pops text me a pic and yep, it's the same as this one. Mind blown. Mandella Effect confirmed.

Haha! I think tool did that to mess with people, it's not the first time! And I believe the Kabar was done that way for balance, so you know which way the edge is oriented without looking at it.

I've got a dogs head myself, wonderful knife. I had an Ontario sp1 once and was not impressed with it. It was barely even sharpened, but the Kabar and Beckers I have are all excellent.

I so want them to make a dogs head version... I like the pommel better and the guard is already shortened on top. Please, kabar!

If they are actually made to be used in space (or in space ships), I'm kinda surprised they didn't make them out of titanium to reduce the risk of sparks in confined oxygen-rich environments.

I've read before they run a normal 02 level in the ISS. From the ISS wiki page:

The Wikipedia page for the International Space Station says that it has a fairly Earth-like, sea-level atmosphere: 21% oxygen, balance nitrogen at 101.3 kPa. Supposedly it's because a pure-oxygen environment is dangerous as in the Apollo 1 disaster, but in that case "pure-oxygen" meant 1.15 atm of O2. It seems like a pure, 0.21 atm O2 atmosphere (or even lower) with no inert balance gas should be fine for people and would be ~ 80% less structurally demanding.

Why titanium? Titanium can produce a bigger spark than steel. Copper or bronze would be more appropriate, and those are what is generally used in earthbound environments that may contain explosive gasses or oxidizers.

Thanks for the info. I must have been thinking about the Apollo program.
