I trust both these enough to carry as town knives . Never really hard used either , but casual testing didn't show any tendency to lock failure etc .

Thank God you started a new thread about this.
Well , I took some pictures but said thread was already disco'd . Wanted to make clear that I got nothing against KAI. Not out to open any wounds !;)

Only Kai folder i ever had was a Kershaw select fire that I didn't like and was not that great quality wise.

However I've got two Kaicut 10" chef's knives my dad got in the late 80's when working as the head cook at a Denny's while he was in the reserves, and they're great knives.
They've not been taken care off but still work great.

Would it be wrong to ask what is curvier? Ken Onions Wife or his Knives? o_O:D

In all seriousness though, it'd be cool if ZT re-released some earlier designs with updated materials/constructions and elevated some of the Kershaw ones to ZT specs. (And CRKT should license some out)

I pray you are suggesting that KAI builds some CRKT designs because the other way around would be tragic !

Very odd thread.

I trust all the KAI tools I have. If I didn't I wouldn't have them. I've had a bunch of their folders. Several fixed blades. I pair of scissors that must be about 20 years old (I've had them that whole time). A bunch of kitchen knives. An axe even. No issues.

Love my 0400 - A green box knife!

The off-shore Emerson designs are very good knives as well.

I’m very happy with the Kershaw Emerson collabs. The only one I still have is my favourite, the cqc7k. Such a great knife for the money.

I bought the 8K - and like you, very pleased with the quality vs price.

I won't get anymore. Sucks to get them and have to immediately have to send them to get serviced for lock geometry issues. It clearly happens to quite a few people but certainly not everyone. Sounds like poor qc?

Tbo... Bare knuckle and the new sinkavich are on my list but... Gonna have to find a way to get a good one by requesting a vendor to check them before sending.

I love the emerson collabs. I have a cqc6k and for about 30 bucks ya can't beat it. Going to try to get some other ones soon the 7 and 4 are both on the to get list.

I wouldn't be surprised to see ZT remake some older models with new materials; they have been doing just that with most of their new models this year. I will be disappointed, however, if they revamp any more previous models before giving us non-assisted 0566 with Ti and an all Ti 0562. Does ZT not like money?!?!

I would love ZT to bring back a few models and even do sprint runs with some different options ...

A 550 or 560 with a 52100 steel or something along that line ... I would be all over that ...

and maybe I'm just the luckiest man on earth (which I doubt) ... and I don't baton my ZTs but from this I did test a few and not one budged at all ... is it just certain models? Or just something new to newer issued knives?

I read enough it seems it's not just one or two oeople but I trust my ZTs for anything I'd use them for.

Sometimes I think these knife companies need a marketing team. Lol. I have always felt the 566 got shortchanged and should have been Ti.

I also wish that ZT would stop putting steel liners under the composite scales on so many of their knives. Either put a titanium liner or no liner at all!

I wish.

So much yes to this! I just can’t get past the steel liner on the 0562!

The Kai models I like, I like a lot. FWIW the Kershaw’s I’ve gifted have held up much better than anticipated for their relatively low cost. I’m also quite satisfied with the 5 ZT’s in my current collection, other than the fact most could be a bit thinner behind the edge. (I say that with lots of knives though.)
