Kate Perry & the Sheeple

If we're not careful, the USA may be like this in 20 years.

One of the many things I respect of the American people is that they are on the whole, very much pro 'choice', they have access to strong lobbying groups (like the NRA) AND they do not take things lying down.

Its what makes you people on the whole, great, and so I hope that continues.

It has nothing to do with human nature. it is the absence of common sense and basic survival instinct. It is a philosophical cult of stupidity helped along by active governmental brainwashing campaigns. See also my sig line.

I see your point and agree with it. Human tendency was probably not the right word, it is more along the lines of that absence of common sense causing people to look for a scapegoat or something to blame, and that coupled with the fact that some people are more willing to place blame on an object than a person make them more receptive to the governmental brainwashing. Im just trying to get into their thought processes here.

What irks me is that most of the time, when I hear people complaining about weapons being depicted in any form of media, they don't seem to notice that have a representation of an archaic, violent, torture device, once used to slowly kill thousands of people, hanging around their necks.

Being against something is fine. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. But being offended by a picture of someone with a knife? That's ridiculous. If the circumstances were different, and gangs were beating people to death with baseball bats(or cricket bats, considering the locale), would they be offended by national sporting events?

Needless to say, I've pretty much given up on humanity. It's all downhill from here, folks.

Too bad she wasn't posing with a handgun!

We don't have very much crime our here in the rocky mountains because so many of us carry concealed handguns. We're ready and willing to fight back against criminals.

I second that Absintheur. I hear video games are violent too. Can you harm someone with a joy stick ??? On a serious note my condolences go out to those families that have lost their loved ones in a senseless act of violence.

So, if you follow this logic, no one can pose with a fast car for a photo, because thousands of people die every year as a result of car accidents.

It makes me sick, all these pretty people posing by deadly pieces of murdercars! This will only encourage the young people to start driving fast and irresponsible, leading to millions of deaths. Fast cars destroy families!

Give me a break.

As the Spanish engraved it on their swords, at the 16 century, “don’t draw me without reason, don’t sheathe me without honour”. Today, the honour is a value in fall and too much people kill easily without reason… but is it really because of the knives or K. Perry?

BTW, Angelina Jolie give a dagger to his son and the French newspaper said it was stupid… but, how they can judge that without know her?

N.B. I hope that the girl kissed by Kate was angelina !!! :p

Something not noted so far. The pic was specifically not used, it was taken as option and rejected. $hats can't resist the opportunity to get a leg up and publicity for an illegally released pic.

Any youngsters seeing her will think it's OK to carry a blade.

Hmmm. She didn't release the picture. Someone else snuck it out. Then THEY will be responsible for the next knife attack, right?

What is behind all this violence in the nanny state? Too many knives or too much drinking? Too little to do or too little consequence for doing wrong? Why blame the knives without trying to find what's really at the root of it -- after all, there were more knives around before the current rash of knifings.

> Katy Perry is telling British youngsters that with so much street crime and defenseless people getting killed, it's time to arm themselves, since no one else seems to be able to protect them.

Look, I like knives, but that is exactly the wrong message to give to those impressionable youngsters. Problem is that because these immature people carry a knife, they are much more likely to use it in a heated argument.
And let's show some heart for the father: just try to imagine your 10 year old being stabbed to death.

not that it makes it any better but he wasnt 10,he was 16 but more importantly he would've still been stabbed all the same regardless of what some hot chick is doing in a picture.we need to give all people more credit.

to say that young people are going to carry knives or think its cool to carry knives just because this girl had one in a pic is beyond ignorant and out of touch.most of them wouldnt have even noticed it or ever payed any attention to it if people didnt make such a big deal out of it.

also think.why did they say she had the knife in the first place??...to make her look more edgy and probably a bit rebellious which youth are attracted to so the worst thing you can do is say how bad it is.that'll only make kids more attracted to it.the last thing you want to do is make it taboo because nothing attracts the youth like taboo.

also, this kid would've been stabbed all the same regardless of what the knife laws and restrictions there are.think about it,if your willing to break the biggest law of all which is murder are you really going to worry if the weapon you used to commit the murder with is legal to own or carry.

if knives are outlawed only outlaws will have knives and liverpool is living proof.i cant wait till obama does that with guns over here, yippee

I went to school in Scotland for a year. From my outsider's perspective, the biggest problem was that people refused to take responsibility for their actions. The mentality of "I can't help what I do when I'm drunk" or "When I get mad I can't control myself" was much more prevalent than I have experienced here.

The term "anti-social" was thrown around quite a bit. They wanted to ensure that "those types" couldn't get their hands on anything dangerous, rather than trying to figure out and address the underlying problems.

Malls were even banning hooded sweatshirts because they were adopted by a "bad element."

Seriously, this is so weird.

I mean what is this, The 80's? Why is the media freaking out over every little thing this girl does? When it comes to music, movies, videogames etc., people have seen everything nowadays. I thought it was practically impossible to shock people anymore.

It seems they've started some kind of campaign where they focus especially on this chick and blow everything she does out of proportion, to make people buy more newspapers. It all has to do with money I guess. It really is pathetic. Screw british media.

But I mean, all publicity is good publicity, I'm sure Katy Perry isn't really complaining. The whole thing might even be just one big publicity stunt, kinda hard to know.

This has little to do with Perry and everything to do with the culture of hysterical hoplophobic weakness that grips the UK. "OH MY GOD! SHE HAS A KNIFE!" What a bunch of frigging pansies.

Simply another case of blaming the inanimate object rather the blaming the person wielding it. Sooner or later they will run out of object to blame after they have banned them all. I hear marshmallows will be targeted soon as marshmallow attacks are on the rise.

Have you ever had a flaming marshmallow in the face?

Stop the Violence, ban marshmallows! :grumpy:

:D
