Keep it Alive in 2025

Charlie, @waynorth , you have gone above and beyond for us on many occasions. It is unfair to continually ask the same people. I am just sorry they didn’t ask you to be a consultant on last year’s knife. If you had been involved in the process I really don’t think it would have gone so badly, and I doubt we would be in this position. A knife with even a tiny bit of your master’s touch would have flown off the shelves.

And yes, a knife in the $40 range is certainly a breath of fresh air! No one should be reluctant to slice their steak with it! I cannot wait to see the photos of the Effiles in use! If anyone wants a higher quality option, they can go for the Ebony version. That one goes for over $100. This exercise is making me wonder if I should even pay GEC prices anymore.

I ordered this MV Porchantic version today as a test. It cost $40 in Padouk and $4.50 for shipping. Opinel created a shipping label from Florida a few hours after I ordered it.
I may order myself an MV Porchantic in a couple weeks regardless of whether or not we manage to move forward with a proper 2025 knife. The Porchantic would at least be a fitting memorial.

abbydaddy abbydaddy , I am glad I purchased a MV Porchantic knife to commemorate what appears to be the end of a wonderful cruise. I actually like that logo better than some version of Blade Forums 2025. Nothing prevents any of us from getting a MV Porchantic unless meako meako has copyrighted the name! By the way Harry, Old Engineer Old Engineer , the font I selected for my MV Porchantic is called Dancing Script.

Putting all of that aside, I have to say that the Effile is truly a great looking knife. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. You have a great eye. In fact, I like the knife so much that I bought two, one in Padouk and one in Ebony!

I find this so frustrating. There is GEC ready to sell us hundreds of knives, and here we are ready to buy them, but we cannot seem to find a way to bridge the gap. I will remain hopeful. Sometimes silence from the powers that be means that something is afoot. But sometimes silence is just silence.
