Ken Erickson Knives: A Retrospective

Ken, I'm curious as to why the pen blade has a distinct curve in the edge of the blade?

Another thought just occurred to me...are the covers genuine Hawksbill scutes?

Superb execution!

Thanks for the feedback on this one guys!

My customer requested a "recurve" pen blade along with a coping. The pen is almost scalpel like and should be a wicked little cutter. And yes to the shell, sourced from an antique serving/dressing bureau tray. Backed up with 22k gold leaf to bring out the highlights.

Update on the first of the whittlers. I do have a quick picture with more to come after I put the finishing touches on it. I still have some final finishing, along with sharpening.

I brought forward the picture so I could view it on this page. Man, that is a sweet knife!! I wondered how it would look with that antique material on it - it is just perfect!!
Thanks for the peek Ken - a Cutlery Wonder!!

Had a chance to finish the knife, and get a few more pictures. Thanks again for the kind comments, they are appreciated.

I love this thread.I would make it a sticky.:) Ken your personality matches your knives.

I'm sorry I haven't posted again until now,I've been busy with some work.I was going to try and photograph my knife, but can't seem to get the weather and time. I'm afraid I can't put your work in a picture, but I'll try.I am still savoring my knife,I can't believe I have it.

That is a beautiful LB whittler, nice work on those covers.I hope all is well.

Ken, I have only one of your knives, and it is one of my favs. I am very proud to own it. I just have to say, that your work blows my mind! I just requested (by email) to get in line for another one. I imagine it'll be a couple years out, but it'll be worth the wait.

Thanks, Todd

Very beautiful Whittler, Ken! The coined liners are icing on the cake!
What patience it must take to do such fine work!

Thanks for the very kind comments guys! I am sorry if it takes me a while to respond etc, as a lifestyle change has made my time here somewhat limited.

I did get a chance to finish up the second larger whittler dressed in stag, 3 7/8 inch. Same length as the Bose/Case version.
This one also has CPM154 blades and springs.

Fun to see them both on the same page, not sure I could pick a favorite between them if I had to!
