Ken Erickson Knives: A Retrospective

I can see why! Not only is it the perfect pattern IMO, but that is some of the best looking bone I've ever seen! Love the way the blades sit closed too, nice and low profile. Hope I can get Ken to build me one someday.

Imho, Ken perfectly captured the look and feel of the classic bone covers of yesteryear. He completely translated my vision of what I wanted that knife to be into a reality that ended up exceeding it. It was literally exactly what I was hoping for (and a bit more).

The fact that it arrived late in the afternoon on a cold Christmas Eve and the postal worker stayed behind to await its arrival and then called me at home to come and get it just made it a memory never to be forgotten.

I really like how Ken filed the insides. Nice toothy surprise when the whole blade channel is open.

Love seeing that Cattle Knife, Elliott!

Here is an update on the collage. I found two more knives which were in an unexpected place! (I wonder who put them there??)
:D

Great story to go with a special knife! Thank for sharing the pictures!

My pleasure.

I'll try to get around to re-posting other images of Ken's work that are no longer available in the thread since I dropped my subscription to my former hosting service.

Great-looking knives gents  Lovely to see that one again Elliott, and to read the back story. Hope you're well my friend

Charlie! I'm glad to finally know where so many pieces of Ken's knives have gone :D Beautiful array.

Elliot, thank you for those great photos, much appreciated.

If I had to choose between Charlie's collection and Elliott's Cattle knife, I would of course snatch up that collection and run laughing all the way home, but Elliott that is still and always will be one of the most desirable knives to grace the pages of Bladeforums.

And that would be the wise choice, Stu, but thank you for your kind words. I'm going to see if I can post up a few images in just a bit.
Hopefully some of them will make it a little harder to choose...:D

In no particular order...

This knife was made on a dare that I didn't think Ken would take me up on. He surprised me at the Blade Show with it:

I love it when the heavyweights come out to play :D

Ken's the heavyweight. I'm simply fortunate enough to be the caretaker of some of his wonderful creations.

Those above were easy to find by the labels in my image folder...the others I'm going to have to search for as I think the images are just indexed numerically...(sigh)

I'll be back.

I love to see the real early ones like #2. It shows what years of hard work and refinement can do.

My pleasure, gents.

That's pretty much all I could find without ripping out what hair I have left...:p

I have many others with multiple views of the knives above but it would have taken forever to upload them all. Sorry.

:eek:MG..........stunning work and display of folding wizardry - congrats to the owners and Sir Ken
