Ken Erickson Knives: A Retrospective

My first knife from Ken arrived yesterday.

I'll bet it won't be your last! Your new SJ rocks. Just a perfect EDC multi-blade. Ken knocks them Dead.

I carry one of Ken's folders with CPM D2. I love the knife and love the steel.

Enjoy!

Ken really has a feel for the Peachseed jigging. These are some of the best jigged bone i have ever seen.
I have read that this Schrade style of jigging is difficult to replicate so Ken's knives may be the only custom knives with "Peachseed bone".

I had a chance to work on the locking electricians knife :grumpy: and must say it is one finicky knife to get right. I still have fitting to do yet, to get the backsprings flush in open and closed positions etc. Getting the screwdriver blade to sit at the right attitude when open and still lock tight took several attempts. When this one is all done I will post a picture of the pile of parts I re-made! It does work at this point, the master unlocks the screwdriver blade, both blades have good walk and talk.

Ken,

I want to see the pile of scraps, but I really want to see the perfected end result. No doubt it will be perfect.

Ken: I'm with Richstag....just want to see the pile of scraps....and really to see if it can hold a candle to my scrap pile! I know the finished product will be spectacular...that's a given..............

Ken if there's one guy out there that can do this knife pattern right, it's you.

Sounds like you've earned a cold beer or two tonight!

Thanks for the cool pictures.

Ken,

As usual, superior photos of your WIP. I love the fact that are always trying new (old) patterns, it brings a feeling "what will he do next", it's great

and I for one appreciate your divergence of patterns.

Had a chance to work on the electricians knife. I have the blades ground, frame/bolsters milled. The next step will be to fit the black linen Micarta scales. I opted for the black linen in place of Ebony for two reasons. The single blade electricians knife I made previously was hafted in Micarta. The other reason is that I think it is a very fitting material for the covers. I think if it had been available when these knives were being produced it would have been considered. Keep in mind things are pretty rough looking yet at this stage.

This is going to be the Porsche 911 of electricians knives. All those proportions and curves look juuuust right.

You are not the only knifemaker who has manufactured a little shrapnel from time to time!;) All in the interest of research and development.
Can't wait to see this one done. It will be a mechanical wonder!!

It's going to be a great knife Ken-micarta will be a great choice for the knife-can't wait to see the finished product!!!

Thanks for the comments guys!

I did get the covers on and shield inlaid and pinned. Pretty much on the downhill slide now except for the finishing aspects.

Very nice, Ken. A beautiful interpretation of true classic carried by countless workmen (and women) over the years.
