Nice work...looks like it cuts. How did the edge hold up?

Funny you ask KHam.
I looked this knife over this morning.
Last night I had to wash it pretty good,I dried it up but let it "air dry",in the house heat. I oiled up the pivot real nice.
The edge was not effected at all. That deer was a small young deer & I hacked right through the chest bone opening his throat,it was no problem for it.The knife is still sharp as the day I got it.
It was a good size, too,to get my finger over the tip to zip the deer open while gutting, but a long enough blade to get in good around the anal removing process.
It seems to be a perfect size folding hunter & fisherman I'll add, because I know I can fillet a striper with it.
Thanks Again Kerry,Keep up the most awesome work,Congrat's to you on your gandchild & Happy Holidays,
-Vince

Check out the steam from the heat escaping,I thought it was a cool pic

I do that too after jalapenos, but instead, I think it's smoke. :D

Thanks for the cutting demo and the well wishes.

What size is it, I am guessing 3 3/4" closed? I love the blade shape.

Enjoy your tasty venison.

You guys getting ready?

I am. Seeing the beast that is headed to you mid-construction has me eager to see the knife finished. You better get some suspenders cuz this one will probably drop your pants if you throw it in your pocket! :)

I'm going to try to put this as honestly as I can without allowing personal feelings to cloud my judgment...

...In discussing this knife with Kerry via email and telephone I was fully prepared for and expected to see the progress he has made as a maker since my first of his knives (Lanny's Clip) and the knives owned by others I have been fortunate enough to see in person at the past few Blade Shows.

What I probably wasn't fully prepared for was to receive a knife with a level of fit and finish commensurate with the upper echelon of the custom knife pantheon.

There are few makers who could make this (difficult) pattern as well. Fewer still that could improve upon it. (It's that good.)

I haven't personally seen all of Kerry's recent work (excluding the images) but judging by what I now hold in my hand I have no problem saying that this is a maker hitting on all cylinders and who has come into his own.

Kerry, you done good, son.:thumbup:

(Kerry's images are good...the knife is better still.)

I would like to say that that I have seen an amber stag shadow sud buster that Kerry made that I thought was my favorite but know I must say this is my favorite knife I have seen from Kerry. Kerry I think you really out did your self with this one. My self being a knife maker as well can see that you really put a lot of elbow grease to it and it sure paid of. I love to see simple yet elegant knives like this one. To me this type of knives are like women that are so beautiful that they look more beautiful with out make up. By that I mean that more can be appreciated of the knife without it having a lot of bells whistles. Blues I must say that you got one nice looking knife that will just go up in value. Congrats to both of you.

Some of the best swedge work there is.

Coming from you guys (whose work I own and respect immensely) that's saying a lot. And I have to agree, this knife by Kerry is one of the very finest in my collection.

Enrique, you're probably right about the value but it won't matter in this case as it's one of those knives I could never willingly consider selling.

Thanks guys, and thanks again Kerry for making such a great knife for me.:cool:

You're welcome, Elliott, but those guys are makin me wish I would have kept it. ;)
