Kerry Hampton Knives

Kerry, what a fine set of folders these turned out to be!!

Charlie, you lucky dog, you!! :D.. They are just gorgeous. Ying and Yang.. I like it.

May I ask a question, please: I see them stamped with a number 1. Is this the first production of this pattern? And if so, what is the name of the pattern?

Well, I recon they were perhaps stupid questions.. :( Oh Dopey Me!..

However, would any of you mind answering them anyway, please?

Anthony, one is a Zulu Trapper, and one is a Wharncliffe Trapper, both 4". They are the first ones like this that Kerry has made. So each is a number 1.
I am not sure of all the details that are considered for a number 1, so maybe Kerry can fill us in on the fine points?
If I remember, Tony does a prototype first, then number 1. The only variation is an XX prototype for his collaboration knives, which precedes a prototype. Reese starts out at number 1.
Kerry, your turn!

Charlie,

You are very kind indeed!

I am quite enamored with Mr. Hampton's knives and am much obliged, sir. :D

I stamp the first knife of a new pattern run with a "1" and stamp up to "9", except for the Khnutbusters which I stamped a "10" and "11". I won't do double numbers again because it's difficult to make the numbers line up and have them look good.

If the pattern has a unique blade or size, then I consider that a unique pattern and start the number series. I'm going to start freehand inscribing the month/year on the inside edge of the pile side liner so folks can at least know when the knife was made.

Another one outa the park, Congrats to you and soon to be happy new owner.
Jim

The world's ONLY Khnutbusters!

Very appropriate shield, durable handle material; that knife is built to work, and in style!!

Ha Ha! Gorgeous knife and the shield name is hilarious! Scrotum shield for a Khnutbuster? Coincidence? Nah! All it needs now is a little, appropriately shaped knife pouch to carry it in! I bet Tony would love that! :D

Thanks for the explanation, Kerry!

And that big sexy sodbuster--KHnutbuster is a Beauty too! That one will/would make one helluva fine user for some lucky owner

Kerry,

Great Photos, and I really like the looks of the jigged paper micarda!

I know that it is probally listed somewhere, but what it the length of your Knutbuster, blade and handle?

Thanks!

Kent

They finish out to somewhere between 3 5/8" - 3 3/4", same length as a sodbuster jr. It is the same blade as a sodbuster jr. except I swedge it.
