Kerry Hampton Knives

Great knife to remember a monumental event! A discreet bulge in the Tux!!

Thanks for all the wonderfully positive comments folks...much appreciated.

Btw, if you're wanting for something to do(ok...BORED), I've launched KnifeHead.com(click on the sig) and you can check out the latest news flash, Pirates of Wilfred. I'm still tweakin the whole thing so don't be surprised if you see changes. It's not just serious...it's not just fun...it's seriously fun.

Great website Kerry! I'll bet it will be a kool place to visit. Don't be surprised if you hear from Johnny Depp regarding the next Pirates sequel...on the other hand...don't hold your lily-livered scupper-slime pirate breaths! Aaaarhhh matey! :D

I'm hoping that Kerry doesn't care to have pirates that use more rouge and eyeshadow than the residents of a New Orleans cathouse on his website.

(I like the site, Kerry!)

YO HO HO FROM CAMP BOP, SWEETIE!
I HEART THE PIRATES of WILFRED! ;):D

I can't believe nobody commented on the "in progress" knife Kerry has on his website. I don't know who is getting that knife but I sure am jealous. It is definitely different than any other Khnutbuster seen so far. It is rumored to be called the Frankenbuster.

A while back I asked Kerry to make me a special knife for my upcoming wedding. We emailed back and forth a bit, and finally decided on one of his KHnutbusters. I wanted to pay some homage to the knife’s sodbuster heritage, so I asked Kerry to make it with yellow bone scales seeing that yellow is one of the wedding colors. When it came time to make the knife there was a slight problem with the yellow scales and Kerry proposed using Case antique bone himself. I told Kerry to do what he thought best, I knew I would be happy with any knife he made.

Number 15 arrived yesterday. As soon as I held it I knew I had a special knife in my hands. Fit and finish, as most of you know, is a bit of a hit-or-miss proposition with slipjoints. No such problems here. Everything is put together nicely, and there are no sharp edges on the knife apart from the cutting edge. Everything is flush – the scales, liners, backspring, and blade are blended together perfectly and I can not feel any abrupt transitions when I run my fingers over the knife. The antique bone scales are just gorgeous. They are a combination of brown and yellow, quite fitting considering the fact that the colors of my wedding are brown and yellow. But perhaps the best part of this knife is the blade itself. It’s sharp and impeccably ground (the first I’ve personally experienced with a slipjoint). With an A2 blade hardened to 60-61 RC and expertly heat treated at the Wilfred works, I know this knife is up for some serious work.

This knife is doubly special because it is my first custom. I now know firsthand what you guys with your custom slippies have been talking about. Production knives, as nice as they are, just don’t compare to a custom slipjoint made by the hands of an expert cutler. KHnutbuster #15 is a work of art, and I can think of no better way to commemorate the big day.

Thanks Kerry.

That's a good looking knife. Kerry just keeps getting better. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

I'll let Kerry tell the story but here is my recently finished knife. :)

He nailed this one for me including the hand made Pennsylvania "keystone" shield. I can't wait to get it.

Oh, oh, oh.

Morrow,

That buster is my fave so far.

Just a sweet knife.

Did I smell A2 on that blade? :D.

The KHnutbuster continues to evolve. Check out that blade! I really like the shield and jigging. Great work Kerry. Congrats to you Jason, and to you as well Kamagong.

Dang Jason, an excellent combination of materials.

Another very impressive knife from Kerry.

Need to get a stamp for that...:p YES YER SMELLER IS WORKIN GREAT!

I think I'm developing a fetish for A2. When the Old Dog heat treats it...it's done right. I just take the knife to my arm and the hair started jumping off before I got there...

....ok, that might be a slight exageration. :D

Kerry's attention to detail is present in ALL his creations!
