Kershaw Cryo?

Yeah, I am all for that. I think It would be cool to have one with that lable. I am going to slap down a preorder this week. I do hope that they elaborate on the design down the line. I think it will be a game changer for kershaw. The deep cary and the hinderer design are awesome.

I love the more expensive hinderer designs, I can't really rationalize spending 4-500 bucks on a knife. There are so many more thigns I could get for that. I am a knife guy all around but that is just toooo much for me to drop on something like that. I would never want to use it after getting it knowing I dropped that kind of cash.

I love the design, but unless it's made in the US I won't be picking one up.

If it sells well maybe they will consider a more expensive version with 154CM or something like that?

Thomas, I personally would love to see this little guy become the next leek/Skyline. Various colors, maybe a G-10 with 154CM or even a composite blade. Boy am I excited about this one. A budget knife that appears to be a little tank. Can't wait to use it. Thanks for making it.

just wish i wasn't so opposed to paying for a knife before it's even released.:grumpy: i'd have preordered one otherwise. but my local blade shop put me down on the list for the first one that comes through their door. :D

also wish i was good enough at writing reviews to get a job as one of the guys who gets to play with all the new stuff. :(

Recently handled my first 0551. Sweet - but a bit too rich for my blood.
Any word yet on Cryo release date? I'd prefer US made and better steel, but for the (proposed) price, it's hard to argue.

I'm sure everyone PREFERS American made to Chinese. But Thomas /kershaw know there target audience.
This knife is going to sell! I personally will be adding every variation of the Cryo to my ZT0350, Leek and chive.

I wish it was out already.

Steve

I will be getting one. It might replace my OD1 as my work knife. Or end up in my EDC rotation.

Well, I got over my "wish it was USA" sentiment. Most of my flashlights are from China - just not my top faves. And my Sage1 is made in Taiwan - and simply fantastic.
Anyway, I've been contemplating supplanting my Shallot value user/abuser blade, (which is just a little slippery, and I'm not a huge recurve fan) with a RAT-1, but can't find one locally to handle and check quality/test fit-n-finish - plus it's kinda big.
The Cryo should do the trick nicely. Put in a pre-order this afternoon. I'm playing the waiting game like the rest of you.
Now if I could just find a quality, affordable, Taiwanese flashlight...

Best place to preorder the Cryo? Without violating bladeforums rules.

Don't want to order from a site and theyre the last to get the cryo ya know.

As a policeman I tend to see alot of benchmades, some kershaws but mostly trash.

I've been showing the Cryo to all my Police buddies. They all stated they were buying one. 2 of my buddies were familiar with Hinderer knives and immediately drooled. I hope Thomas is paying attention to this one.

We're paying attention. Have no fear, Big Brother is watching! :)

But seriously, it is interesting to see what the Law Enforcement community thinks of a particualr product. Thanks for the input.

I can't wait until this comes out, it'll fill the midsize gap in my edc. But, on another note, i ponied up the cash from my tax refund to buy my first ZT, a 0350. Passed on a really nicely priced strider pt for it....
Got my first titanium knife this Week too, a nice little boker subcom titan.

Okay I just read through the thread. This knife is going to be phenomenal value. As someone who loves some of the higher quality chinese knives (Sanrenmu, Enlan) I can say that this outperforms them on price/performance. As a point of comparison, the CRKT Drifter is widely cited as a great performer, particularly the all-stainless steel framelock version. For $10 more with this knife you get:

(1) Hinderer design. Not only looks good but is built like a tank.
(2) Lockbar washer.
(3) Assisted opening.
(4) Flipper
(5) Deep pocket carry clip.

Hell any one of those 5 would make me buy this over the CRKT Drifter, but together that is just phenomenal value for a knife. I a gree some G10 on one side would be great for grip, but I own the all stainless Drifter as well as the famous Sanrenmu 710 (also all-steel framelock handle) and in this size category all-steel works great. As others have said the shape of the handle is more important than the material, and the hefty weight actually feels good in this size class since g10 knives sometimes feel like you're holding nothing.

I think this is going to be a huge hit and will be strong competition to the Tenacious line assuming quality control is good. The Skyline is another great knife in this category, but does not have the feel of a beater the way the Tenacious does, or this knife looks to. I'm super excited about getting one.

(5) Deep pocket carry clip.
- My only gripe is that it is truly only a deep carry clip in tip down configuration. If you switch it to tip up, the clip becomes a "deeper" carry clip, but it doesn't disappear. I wish Kershaw would drop the lanyard hole and move the clip higher.

Funny, I was happy to find that it isn't deep carry in tip-up position. I prefer the knife to protrude from the top of my pocket a bit. On a related note, I wish it wasn't AO. Guess they can't please us all.

Just tell me where I can get one. I want one now not in 2013.

They have not been released yet. As an offshore budget priced $30-40 product with Rick Hinderer design, a deep pocket clip, 8CR13MOV, speedsafe, and a cool color everone will want one and I imagine they will not release until a bunch have been produced so the dealers can all participate in the launch of this very cool product. I will sure be getting one.
