Kershaw Cryo?

Where is everyone preordering theirs? What stores usually get them out the fastest? I PM'ed kershawguy to see if he was taking preorders for the Cryo but no response.

I saw one in person at the Sportsmen Show in Portland two months ago. I couldn't convince them to sell it to me. So there is at least one Cryo completed and in this country.

My memory of an extremely short conversation over two months ago is bad, but here is what I remember. They also had a Zing SS and Groove SS in their display along with a small number of small current production knives. Kershaw had a booth along with Fred Meyer (grocery and houseware store in this part of the country). The person doing the free sharpening may have worked for Kershaw but the guys at the booth said they were from some promotions company and not Kershaw or Fred Meyer. The one guy said he just started in the outdoor products division and wasn't familiar with the products. He couldn't tell me anything useful and they just kind of blew me off as that weird guy in the Kershaw hat as if I had my body painted red and the Kershaw logo shaved in to my chest hair and was asking obscure questions about Vanadium content of Elmax and not just questions about price and when and where they'd be available. I mean, come on, I wouldn't be out in my Halloween costume in February! It takes at least til June for my chest hair to grow back from the previous October's Kershaw logo shaving [only with a KAI/Universal Group razor of course!]!

Anyway, they made it sound though like Fred Meyer would carry the Cryo as well as the Leek, Chive, and Clash that were also in the case that FM already carries. There were no Blurs or any current production knives in the case that FM doesn't already carry [I could be wrong on this]. They gave me a 15% off Kershaw coupon for FM that expires in May, that should put their price at MAAP based on their price of Leeks I've seen. I've been holding on to it hoping the Cryo would be out soon. I've been checking 3 different Fred Meyers every week to see if anything shows up. No luck so far or else I'd post info here.

Thanks for the intel. It never occurred to me that I might be able to pick up the Cryo at Freddy some day. I don't shop there much at all, but will have to keep an ear out here for the Cryo to land at FM.

I don't know for sure if Fred Meyer will be stocking the Cryo. Hopefully Kershaw can convince them to stock them if they aren't already planning to. Fred Meyer may want to see sales figures at other places first before committing. I think the small inexpensive knives would be good sellers there and may have not as good figures at a place that has knives along with guns like Bi-Mart where JYDs and Blurs I think would sell well.

KC keeps taunting me with their "This is a friendly note to let you know that your order is still in process. Rest assured that it is in good hands! As soon as your order is complete, it will be shipped right out." e-mails for my pre-order.

Agreed!! :grumpy:

Here is the latest "line" I got from Kershaw. The Cryo is the first and last pre-order I will ever put in for, and maybe the last Kershaw if they don't get their !#%*" together....

Hi,
Kershaw Knives-KAI USA Ltd. commented on their Wall post.

We only have the prototype Cryo and haven't received any shipments. Last I was told, our first shipment isn't due until late April / early May. I will give this page an update when they're shipping :)"

So your going to stop buying great product from a company because they can't get their exclusive and amazingly good design to you fast enough? >_> really?

We're trying to get our !#%* together enough to live up to whatever your expectations are. Thanks for your understanding and patience.

This is not a CRK or a one of a kind special edition hand forged samurai sword made by Senji a fourteenth generation bladesmith from the mountains of Japan. This is a production item and was offered for pre-orders in January. Perhaps some of the Authorized dealers are a little overzealous in their sales practices? Anyhoo, i'm still waitin' like the rest of the customers and when I get it I will like it. Then I will probably have to sell a few safe queens for a CRK or three.

Dealers taking pre-orders has nothing to do with Kershaw.

As far as myself, I can't wait for this knife.

Me,too!

Gonna hafta start skipping any posts made by Thomas...really strong black coffee was never meant to be a nasal lavage.
Turned my head in time to avoid direct baptism of the keyboard...but just barely.

Yes...but I mistook your post for that of a suddenly-severely-disgruntled 'regular' here...

I am just a rookie, taking lessons, but Thomas was apparently one of the founding members of The National Sarcasm Society, where their motto is: 'Like we need your support.'

Chokes me up; yes, it does.

I appreciate Kershaw and other companys willingness to discuss new products at all LOL. Peoples expectations are unrealistic and they forget its a privledge to hear about new products. No release dates were given.

If folks have pissy attitiudes about products in the pipeline they will cause the manufacturers to not discuss new designs. I enjoy hearing about new products and don't mind at all my pre-order sitting at KC for a cryo even though I have no idea when they will be released. The retailer won't charge my card till they ship and I get to enjoy being one of the first to get a new product when they do finally ship to the dealers.
