Kershaw Tilt...again.

It will be black. We're going to ceramic blast the part, and then DLC it. It will be a soft black if that makes sense. It looks good with the CF.

The lock was EDM'd, and when we started the anodizing process, there was a "halo" that was left around the cut once finished. We couldn't figure out why, or how to eliminate it. Strange phenomenon, looked awful, and thus the change.

Here is an image of what I'm talking about.

Thomas, that is one nice looking knife and I am glad you decided on the change. I do like the black better than the anodized version.

It is what it is. I'm way too excited for the knife to let something like annodizing bring me down.

I was liking the blue prototype but considering the EDM issue, black DLC was a great choice and I think it looks extremely classy too now with the shiny stand offs, more sophisticated now :)

Thanks for the pics Thomas!

P.S. Is that the finished clip in that last pic?

DLC sounds more like an upgrade to me, as it would protect the titanium from scuffing. Though blue would provide a color break to the knife. Perhaps a TiAlN coating? It's more of a dark blue hue and it would protect the titanium as well. I believe the coating is also good for high temperatures, though I personally wouldn't attempt an EDM with the coating on.

I'd personally prefer a blue finish as well but the black looks cool too. Is it possible to do a stonewash Ti? I think that would look pretty sweet as well.

Hope to have images of the clip next week.
Please round the edges on that clip. I'm on the waiting list for the Tilt and I like the black but the clip is terrible. Maybe its too late to thin it out but do something about the edges.

See post 268, I don't want to hear about no clip...I don't even want to hear about the clip once the piece hits the street. The clip rocks, end of story.
