kershaw warehouse sale

They had a Leek with an all coyote brown coating and the blade was stamped "prototype". I wonder if anyone picked that up. It would have made a nice collectors piece, but I was in enough trouble for buying what I did already so I passed.
Man, I knew I should have driven the 2,500 miles! That sucks.

That wasn't supposed to be there.

It sounds like everyone had fun at the sale. I am sad because I started this thread, live in Eugene, but couldn't go because finals.

Come to the fairgrounds Saturday and you will see a lot of what was at the sale, I will be there with four tables of stuff. Come on down and visit, opens at 8am, Wheeler Pavilion.

That's my plan, and if you have any 550's or 551's this will mark the third time I've bought a knife from you at a Eugene knife show.

A few more pics of the Tilt:

Can't remember your knife's name? Not a problem. Just look inside:

This gifted knife is the 35th one. Serial number 35. Thomas gave me one of the first one hundred made! Sweet!

So this is the one you're selling on the bay now? The free gifted Tilt?

Pretty sad that there are folks like that out there...take a generous gift from a guy, then hock it on EBAY to the highest bidder. The least he could have doen was offer it up here on the forum and donate a portion of the funds to the forum that he bragged on.

It's all cool. I don't think any of us can expect a recipient of a free knife to keep it their whole lives. They're free to do what they want with it. I was not speaking about this knife or situation in my earlier thread.

It made me mad then sad and then I realized, we don't know his heart or his needs, he may be using the the money for something honorable, like a charity or some other thing that God has put on his heart, we really don't know. So I decided God is big enough to handle this , I'll move on.

True true. Oh and thanks Thomas for putting up the pics on facebook. It was cool to see some of the stuff that went on for us that will most likely never be able to make it over there.

Wow if I had a TILT whether free or not I would laser engrave "I love Thomas W" and carry it everyday and keep it until I die and also donate 100$ to a charity. Ill keep praying

I'm very appreciative of Thomas's generosity and having Kershaw in my backyard is a point of community pride with me. I consider myself a Kershaw supporter.

This terrific folder is one of several I value that is caught up in my re-focusing of my collection away from modern folders toward period/military folders. Do I have mixed emotions? Absolutely. Unfortunately, in order to make this possible I have to thin my present collection to be able to do this.

Collecting cutlery has been a wonderful hobby for me for many years. I hope to keep it going as long as I can. I see collecting more like serial monogomy: marriage, divorce, marriage, etc.. However, I don't expect to have any buried with me.

A year ago I was all over Spyderco, then Buck, then Shilin Cutters, now 20th century military folders. What next? There is enough depth to this hobby that I don't worry about future avenues to explore.

I see your point of view Dave, and i can relate, but i guess it's hard to see honor or merit in the actions when it seems like the knife was listed immediately after receiving it and posting pics to brag. I would have not posted about the free knife to just then resell it online for all to see without a mention of good intentions.

I do alot of charity donating on other forums that send items to the troops, and working for the U.S. Army, i see firsthand from talking with the guys how these things affect the guys and how happy they are to get them. even the smallest care packages with items we take for granted.... candy/trailmix/babywipes/cigars/magazines. So if his intentions are genuine, then sobeit....we'll let God deal with it in the end...

Merry Christmas

Well said sir! Merry Christmas

I believe there to be a difference between selling a piece won in a contest vs. being gifted a knife.

I've perused the Knives Wanted section in the past, and have sent the members a single or even a handful from their wish list. If I saw those for sale...that would kinda suck.

There was a member that won a one off piece and had it in the For Sale section the same week. I sent him a check for it. He felt bad, said he needed the money for his family. Was embarrassed about the situation, despite my encouragement that there were no issues, he never posted again.

We all know peeps want to win in a giveaway, but the reasons behind them entering the contest can have little to do with keeping the actual knife. Many look at is as a way to win and make a quick buck. I guess the way I see it is the knife eventually ended up in someones hands who really wanted it.

I still have the first Knockout off the line that you gave me for winning your contest. That's a keeper for sure.

Damnit, between you and Dave, your making it hard for me to be negative about all this. You guys have a nack for seeing things always in the positive light. I really like your point of view that eventually the knives end up in the hands of someone who really wanted it and will appreciate it. Now if i could get you to somehow explain in your words to my wife why i need to have more than one knifem then i would be all set. I just got my G10 Sped Bump a week ago, and last night i mentioned buying more, she wigged, even though i said that all but one was for Christmas presents, she asked "Why do you need the one for yourself?"
My reply of "I can't order and not grab myself one" didn't fly to well.
